Amgen Global Facilities Operations Risk Manager in South San Francisco, California
Global Facilities Operations (GFO) Risk & Business Continuity is responsible for instilling a culture of safety, preparedness & business resilience at GFO Sites through application of risk management, business continuity, emergency and crisis management practices. Objectives of this group are protection of life, company business, facilities and assets.
The Risk Manager provides program management leadership for site emergency & crisis management, as well as business and facilities recovery programs. The role is accountable to the Global Facilities Operations (GFO) Risk and Business Continuity Director in support of the Site Heads and Regional GFO Directors. This role will primarily support the GFO Sites at Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada and South San Francisco (SSF), CA, U.S. In addition, the manager will also support our Cambridge, Massachusetts and Thousand Oaks U.S. sites & the Mississauga, Canada site, as well as the commuter connection program. This role may work both remotely and on-site.
Responsible for implementation of industry best practices & Amgen’s business continuity and crisis management standard expectations to maintain a mature state of readiness for emergency and business recovery phases. The role will be responsible for developing new plans for a future SSF Site, and to maintain integration across two locations until move is complete.
Liaison with Site Leadership, Chief of Staff, GFO, Engineering, Security, Environmental Health Safety & Sustainability, Research, Global Crisis Management & Business Continuity, HR, Corporate Affairs, Information Systems, volunteer staff, integrated services providers, and external responders, trainers, suppliers & partners.
Present program status in Governance reviews. Develop and ensure maintenance of effective plans & teams, messaging/alerts, supplies & equipment, technology & communication devices. Performs outreach and develops & delivers training to sustain bench-strength in key response positions. Design & facilitate exercises and incorporate lessons learned. Close exercise action items. Participate in response in times of crisis, including evening & weekend work when necessary.
Based on experience, facilitates risk assessments using Amgen’s Operations Risk Management methodology and system. The Risk Manager advises project managers, insurance liaisons, facility managers and management on risk severity and likelihood and tracks mitigations to closure in partnership with Risk Owners and Environmental Health & Safety.
OR Master’s degree and 3 years of operations, security, EHS or project management experience
OR Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of operations, security, EHS or project management experience
OR Associate degree and 10 years of operations, security, EHS or project management experience
OR High school diploma/GRE and 12 years of operations, security, EHS or project management experience.
Emergency management (ICS and NIMS), crisis management, business continuity/resilience, recovery operations and/or risk management experience
External public responder experience
5+ years’ experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, cGMP.
Experience managing and/or participating in emergency, crisis or risk management, disaster recovery, or business continuity program activities.
Emergency, Crisis Management, Business Continuity, and/or IS Disaster Recovery certification.
Training design and delivery experience.
Risk Management experience
Facilities Management or Engineering or Commuter Transportation program experience
Frontline Live business continuity system or iRisk or Stature Risk system experience.
Contract/vendor management or supply chain experience.
Amgen qualified risk assessment facilitator
Continuous Improvement experience (Operations Excellence, Value Steam Mapping, Kaizen, Storyboards, Six Sigma, etc.).
Project Management Certification.
