What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be a part of the Therapeutic Discovery organization joining the Discovery Technologies department in support of Amgen’s small molecule drug discovery pipeline.
Development and optimization of novel cell-based assays
Design, implement, and optimize gene-editing (e.g., CRISPR) that enable development and evaluation of real-time, live, cell-based functional assays supporting therapeutic target screening or lead optimization studies
Learn, apply, and incorporate automation solutions during assay development and assay troubleshooting
Optimize new methods/techniques to generate reliable and reproducible data promptly

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree OR Doctorate degree completed OR
Master’s degree and 4 years of Scientific experience OR
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. degree with 1+ years of post-doctoral training or a Master’s degree with 4+ years postgraduate experience in cell and/or molecular biology
Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a biopharmaceutical setting
Familiar with assay technologies including luminescence, fluorescence and FRET/BRET with experience in the utilization of lab automation across assay development and screening
Developing, implementing, and executing novel cell-based screening assays in (384 and/or 1536 well plates) to support early drug discovery research
Understanding and implementation of a wide range of cell-based assays and readouts (e.g., TR-FRET, BRET, PCA, AlphaScreen, high content imaging, luminescence and fluorescence-based reporter and/or label-free assays)
Development and implementation of novel cellular target engagement or activity assays (e.g., second messenger generation, ion flux, reporter, NanoBit/BRET/Nanoluc, gene activation, cellular imaging)
Experience with cell characterization and analytical techniques such as DNA sequencing, qPCR and protein expression as well as expertise with phenotypic and functional characterization of immortalized or primary cells
Established capabilities in setting-up and operation of fluorescence/luminescence plate readers (e.g., FLIPR, Envision) and automated liquid handlers (e.g., Bravo, Echo, Tempest) in the development of 384- and/or 1536-well microtiter plate assays
Familiarity with software and statistical platforms for the analysis of large data sets (e.g., Screener, Spotfire, MODDE pro/DoE, Pipeline Pilot)
