What you will do
This role will give the successful applicant the opportunity to work closely with many different business functions and spend categories (e.g, Capital Construction, Raw Material and Consumables, Distribution, Site Support Services) in one of the leading Biotech companies in the world. They will be the Global Sourcing Site Lead for Amgen’s Singapore facility and effectively sourcing various direct categories in Singapore in accordance with established Procurement policies and guidelines. In addition, the position will have responsibility for sourcing strategy and execution of the Capital Construction portfolio for the Asia Pacific region. The role will be working closely with and prioritizing activity with the Singapore Finance, Supply Chain, Process Development & Manufacturing teams and Global Category Managers, implementing global category sourcing strategies and supplier management processes. The role will report directly to the Director, Global Strategic Sourcing being responsible for the Sourcing Site Leads.
Responsibilities
Purpose
Single point of contact for GSS and business partner interaction at the site
Drives site productivity and improvement agenda
Key relationships with Site VP and Functional Leads
Own and deliver sourcing strategies and productivity initiatives for the Amgen Singapore Manufacturing Facility
Deliver the strategic demands of Procurement partners/customers
Complete and implement the sourcing and purchasing needs of Amgen
Ensure compliance with all relevant sourcing policies and procedures
Support the Global Category Managers with execution of sourcing strategies that impact the site
Lead contracting activities and run ongoing contract management needs for Strategic and Supply Constrained Categories
Strategic Contribution
Develop, support and lead strategies for respective categories
Be a trusted advisor to VP / Senior Leadership Team at the site
Bring Industry/business function-specific knowledge and experience
Initiate/build industry peer relationships within the region
Executing Sourcing Strategies:
Develop and implement a multi-year productivity agenda and plan, aligned with finance and business site objectives
Drive alignment between category strategy and the needs and requirements of regions, countries, and Singapore site
Deliver sourcing and productivity opportunities effecting process, demand and cost
Run Request for Proposal and Quotation processes (eRFX), evaluate and negotiate proposals, ensure and validate selection of suppliers
Work with the Global category managers to define Singapore requirements and implement a site sourcing strategy
Develop and complete sourcing strategies for the Asia Pacific Capital Construction portfolio
Develop supplier analysis and market intelligence to support sourcing strategies
Customize sourcing strategy to drive value in specific functional environment, including legal and regulatory context
Support partners with development of their business strategies
GSS decision maker for category/functional sourcing strategy and supplier selection
Delivering value for customers:
Supports Global Category Managers with Singapore impacting activity
Understands business objectives and interprets customer needs to identify sourcing opportunities to support them
Build strong partnerships with colleagues in Finance, Accounting, HR and Function Heads as appropriate
Support / Lead delivery and validation of savings
Anticipates and prevents potential problems through root cause analysis
Drive operating efficiencies by understanding business needs and complex supply markets
Responsible for sourcing all the country local categories
Awareness and coordination of Local and Global sourcing strategies
Ability to provide thought leadership to customers and actively shape customer’s overall strategy while understanding business goals
Demonstrated experience in identifying and applying full set of sourcing levers to drive value for customers
Manage and mitigate supply risk
Inform stakeholders on Amgen’s sourcing policies and procedures and ensure Amgen’s procurement policies are followed and that compliance metrics are met or exceeded
Managing supplier relations:
Development and maintenance of preferred supplier relationships
Support global / regional category managers to identify and articulate long-term strategic value that can be obtained through supplier collaboration
Deliver supplier improvement programs and drive continual value from key supplier relationships

What we expect of you
Qualifications
Doctorate degree and 2 years of directly related experience OR
Master’s degree and 6 years of directly related experience OR
Bachelor’s degree and/or 8 years of directly related experience
Experience with direct and/or indirect manufacturing operations spend categories
Experience in working in international environments
Broad knowledge of the market forces shaping a customer’s business context (e.g., supplier base, legal & regulatory environment, sources of competitive advantage)
Solid understanding of sourcing processes (tendering, supplier negotiations and contracting), across multiple indirect spend categories.
Ability to conduct benchmarking to address cost, quality, risk and innovation considerations
Competent in Project Management and independently develops practical solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (presentation, virtual team development, etc.)
Proven problem-solving skills
Able to work with minimal direction, ensuring quality of tasks / service provided by self and other
Ability to apply analytical skills to evaluate and interpret complex situations using different information sources in order to draw and present analytic insights
Highly proficient with MS Office Suite, including Excel
Knowledge of sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier management
Strong understanding of best in breed eProcurement solutions such as Ariba
Ability to analyze, summarize, and present insights based on the needs of the audience
Ability to develop business cases and champion opportunities with quantifiable financial benefits
Demonstrated track record of identifying root causes to issues and pproblem solving
Change management experience with large and complex organizational transformations with proven project management experience
Demonstrated success in partnering cross-functionally
Ability to own and strengthen relationships with key partners
