Amgen Intern - Bio Mfg Ops (Excellence) in Singapore, Singapore
Duration Period: Jan - Jun 2020 (06 months)
The internship provides the opportunity for student to be exposed to high level planning and scheduling of end to end manufacturing operations from Solution Preparation to Cell Culture to Purification. The student will get to interact with other functional teams and get insight to different aspects of the biologics business. The student will be involved in process improvement projects that help the manufacturing team to meet quality compliance and schedule adherence in a safe environment. The student will also have the chance to observe how advanced technology is used in Amgen biologics manufacturing. At the end of the internship, the student can expect to have developed skills in project coordination, time management and process improvement.
As part of the manufacturing team, intern will be exposed to some of the topics as follows:
GMP/GDP
Production Scheduling
Operational excellence
Inventory management
Documentation system
Product changeover
Automation system
Solution Batching, filtration and transfer
Bioreactor functions and setup
Cell culture monitoring
Process analytics
Purification chromatography steps
Viral Inactivation
Viral filtration
Diafiltration / Ultrafiltration
Intern will support the Manufacturing Scheduler in activities as follows:
Routine manufacturing scheduling
Process improvement
GMP document maintenance
Data collection for investigation and continuous improvement purpose
Any other tasks as assigned by Manufacturing Scheduler and Manager
Being a single-use facility the intern will have the opportunity to support process standardized work, error-proofing methods, and inventory-control systems to improve manufacturing efficiency. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to deep dive into manufacturing process steps to gain a thorough understanding of the challenges of the manufacturing floor.
Basic Qualifications
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
18 years or older
Completion of 1 year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
Enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s or Combined Bachelor's/Master's degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications
Degree concentration(s) in Bioengineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Statistics
Experience with data visualization tools or packages, such as Tableau, Spotfire, or Power BI
Experience in programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
