Amgen Desktop Engineer in Singapore, Singapore

Job Summary

The Desktop Engineer will provide critical ongoing application support and active monitoring for some key desktop and VDI support and associated processes and follow established processes for escalation when needed. The candidate must be able to work collaboratively within the IS and GBS teams to ensure processes are running efficiently as expected. Candidate must be self-motivated and autonomous, proficient in communication both written and verbal, and experienced with application support processes.

  • Monitors Information Technology applications, systems and hardware for abnormal processing conditions, utilizing monitoring tools and operating system logs

  • Researches and resolves systemic issues and problems with software systems and application compatibility with the standard operating systems (WinOS, MacOS) and security agents

  • Follows escalation procedures when appropriate to resolve processing problems and user problems in a timely manner and meet service levels and other standards for the job

  • Manage AWS VDI infrastructure for secure endpoint environment

  • Coordinate the build and maintenance of Windows image for VDI

  • Configuration Management for Windows VDI endpoints using industry-standard tools to meet Security and functionality requirements

  • Administer enterprise software including deployment and package management as it pertains to the VDI

  • Continuously engage application owners to ensure that the applications are up-to-date

  • Analyzes and implements changes or additions to software systems and operations procedures as needed.

  • Support UAT and pilot testing for new functionality releases

  • Facilitate user communications and organizational change management when changes are being implemented (outages, upgrades, attribute changes, etc.)

  • May identify new tools, technology or processes that improve overall processing environment or processing efficiency.

  • Completes project assignments and ad-hoc project needs commensurate with job expectations.

  • Confirm the shutdown and startup of lower environment systems that may be scheduled to occur.

Other related duties assigned as needed.

  • Monitor applications, data loads and lifecycle management activities following established procedures.

  • Managing quarterly confirmation process and support of annual / periodic review process

  • Closely work with License management team to ensure standardization and Application Lifecycle Management processes are being enforced

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or closely-related field desired. Equivalent work experience is also desired

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels

  • Willingly shares relevant technical and/or industry knowledge and expertise to other resources

  • Excellent problem-solving, team and time management skills

  • Is resourceful and proactive in gathering information and sharing ideas

  • PowerShell, Python, MoveIT or other scripting tools would be very helpful

  • Working knowledge of Windows Analytics, ServiceNow, Tachyon

  • Working knowledge of data intelligence tools (PowerBI, Tableau)

  • Working knowledge of ITIL methodologies and systems

  • Working knowledge and ability to write SQL queries helpful

  • Expertise in setting up, configuring, deploying and support AWS/VDI throughout the enterprise.

  • Virtual Desktop Administration preferably using AWS Management console with Cloud support, deployment and maintenance experience

  • Fluent in English and Mandarin
