With a deep and broad pipeline of potential new medicines, Amgen remains committed to advancing science to dramatically improve people's lives.The Associate Engineer is responsible for maintenance planning and engineering assignments at Amgen Singapore Manufacturing Site for the Facilities and Engineering department. This position will assists with or directly provide technical engineering support in process optimization strategies, upgrades, replacements, and modifications in the operations / manufacturing environment and will ensure that all operations are accomplished in a compliant manner consistent with current corporate policies, industry standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. A significant amount of time is spent on the floor during equipment maintenance activities.


  • General:

  • On a daily basis, monitor operations of a unit operation or system and actively assist operations, maintenance or project personnel as required.

  • Routinely troubleshoot operational issues with individual equipment or skids.

  • Assist with the proposal, initiation, testing and implementation of proposed changes to process, utility and/or facility systems

  • Routinely audit the operational performance and regulatory compliance of a limited number of equipment items or systems of minor to moderate complexity.

  • Perform standard engineering work requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.

  • Applying basic engineering principles to implementation of system modifications, execution commissioning activities, or the performance of process troubleshooting efforts

  • Developing, organizing, analyzing, and presenting results for operational issues and engineering projects of minor scope and complexity

  • Working closely with multiple disciplines, including manufacturing, engineering, utility operations, maintenance, quality assurance, and validation to implement operational improvements and meet goals.

  • Ability to provide On-Call support coverage on weekends, on a rotating basis.

  • Equipment / Process Equipment knowledge to perform complex troubleshooting of equipment failures or malfunctions and/or the development of technical assessments.

  • Apply basic engineering principles and practices in support of daily maintenance of plant utility and process systems.

  • Provide technical expertise to define and implement equipment maintenance strategies while optimizing cost, compliance, and effectiveness.

  • Work closely with Facilities and Engineering Crafts, Equipment Engineers and Maintenance Planners to ensure safe, compliant, effective and reliable maintenance activities.

  • Provide engineering support to ensure effective maintenance program is established including accurate equipment data, job plans, spare parts, safety data, planning information, and maintenance schedules.

  • Provide support outside normal shift including nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Assist more senior engineers in the evaluation and implementation of engineering improvements, policy changes, compliance improvements and optimization programs.

  • Prompt and regular attendance to workplace.

  • Demonstrate project management skills and application of concepts.

  • Experience in investigation of non-conformances, development of corrective and preventive actions and generation and implementation of change controls.

Basic Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree


Associate's degree and 4 years of directly related experience


High school diploma / GED and 6 years of directly related experience

  • Minimal years of experience in operations/manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Exposure to or direct experience with regulated environments (i.e. cGMP, OSHA, EPA) preferred
