Amgen Sr Associate Sourcing in Shanghai, China
Role Specification:
Sr Associate Sourcing
Purpose:
The Sr Associate will be based in Shanghai, China and will report directly to the Sourcing Site Lead for Amgen Singapore Manufacturing. The role will focus on multiple categories as assigned by the direct manager, and provide support based on strategic sourcing demands of stakeholders/customers:
To execute sourcing (eRFX) for the Global & Regional Category Management Teams – supporting the sourcing of Raw Materials/Excipients in the China market, local Research & Development projects, initiatives at Amgen’s Singapore Manufacturing site, and other regional projects
To be a Procurement Process and Systems expert ensuring compliance with all relevant sourcing policies and procedures
To be a China market resource for verbal and written communications with Chinese suppliers
To support coordination and execution of supplier visits and audits at the local market resource
To be a Contracting expert, leading contracting activities, managing ongoing contract management needs (for Strategic and Supply Constrained Categories) and to be accountable for hand-off to Contract-to-Pay teams
JOB SUMMARY
Context and Responsibilities
Executing global/regional sourcing strategies:
Work is guided by operational and project related objectives defined by Global and Regional Category Managers:
Implement regional sourcing strategies across International markets
Document (in Ariba) and guide sourcing execution through to implementation
Communicate local and regional requirements impacting category strategies
Support supplier analysis and market intelligence activities
Deliver required CDAs
Manage Request for Proposal and Quotation processes (eRFX)
Ensure sourcing tactics drive value in specific functional business environments, including legal & regulatory context
Develop and maintain preferred supplier lists
Implement supplier improvement programs within key supplier relationships
Implement new procedures and processes to drive desired results
Delivering value for customers:
Understand business goals and interpret customer needs to identify potential opportunities while providing training and guidance
Partner with colleagues in Finance and all other Function Heads as appropriate
Support / Manage delivery and validation of savings
Anticipate and prevent potential problems through root cause analysis
Managing contracts:
Ensure Amgen’s procurement policies are followed, and that compliance metrics are met or exceeded, and supported through preferred supplier contracts:
Inform stakeholders on Amgen’s sourcing policies and procedures, providing support and corrective actions where required
Lead and implement contracting with new suppliers
Provide ongoing contract management (Renewing and Renegotiating existing and expiring contracts)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of sourcing experience OR associate degree with 3-5 years of sourcing experience, preferably with experience in working in international environments
Solid understanding of sourcing processes (tendering, supplier negotiations and contracting) across multiple countries, for categories including excipients and R&D
Problem solving skills
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments concurrently and function within a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Ability to analyze and summarize data and present insights based on the needs of the audience
Able to work with minimal direction, independent, proactive, ensuring quality of tasks / services provided by self and others
Competent in Project Management and independently develops practical solutions (Planning, prioritizing and delivery), with experience in working in project teams across geographic and functional reporting lines
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, virtual team development, etc.) resulting in relationship building and development
Understanding and experience with eProcurement solutions, Ariba Sourcing and Contracting Modules. Experience with SAP preferred
Highly proficient with MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Willingness to Travel
Fluent business English and Mandarin, written and oral
