Amgen Associate Scientist- (level 4) in Shanghai, China

Amgen R&D Center Discovery Research group focus on G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), an important class of signaling molecules and potential drug targets.

Amgen Asia R&D (Shanghai) Center Pharmacology group is looking for a highly self-motivated Research Associate/Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist to work on development and execution of in vivo and in vitro cell-based assay. The successful candidate should have a M.S. degree with relevant experience in biology, molecular biology or pharmacology.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and execute in vivo and ex vivo experiments to support different projects.

  • Generate knockout, knockdown or overexpression cell system for target validation.

  • Perform ex vivo procedure and analysis including isolation of DNA/RNA from tissue, qPCR, western blotting, FACS and immunofluorescence staining.

  • Analyze and report results to the company database and project teams.

Required skills:

  • Hands-on experience in animal handling, breeding, primary cell isolation and culture

  • Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques including molecular cloning, vector construction, maintenance of mammalian cell cultures and primary cells, DNA/RNA/ protein detection assays (qPCR/WB/IHC), siRNA and CRISPR/Cas9 based gene-editing techniques

  • Experience with biochemical and cell-based assays

  • Familiar with cardiovascular biology and related animal models (preferred but not required)

  • Team player with good communication and presentation skills

  • Proven ability to multi-task, work independently, meet timelines and work accurately

Basic Qualifications

  • M.S. degree with experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry

  • Fluent in reading, writing and speaking in Chinese and English
