Associate Counsel Manager

What you will do

As part of the International Legal Group – a team of over 30 lawyers supporting most of Amgen’s ex-US businesses – you will support and partner with the Country Senior Counsel France in a broad range of matters and will collaborate with other support functions in the company (such as compliance, sourcing, finance, etc.).

  1. Core Business Support
  • Subject matter authority for selected business units, counseling them on their projects, represent the legal department at their cross functional committee meetings.

  • Supporting the implementation of business projects including agreement of related commercial contracts.

  • Supporting the business in appropriate implementation and application of pharma related legislation, in particular governing interactions with healthcare professionals.

  • Counseling the company on legal questions related to biosimilar products.

  • Main legal point of contact for the regulatory and quality departments.

  • In charge of providing advice on various core business matters such as: marketing projects, product promotion, patient support programs, early access and detailed use programs, collaborations with HCPs, Institutions, patient organizations, provision of grants, sponsorships, and donations.

  • Delivering periodic training to business teams, counsel and update on applicable legislation, counsel implementation of related processes as needed.

  1. R&D and Clinical trials Support
  • Supporting the Medical team in relation to trial activities, including implementation of sponsored clinical trials, investigator-sponsored clinical trials, and observational studies.

  • Providing advice to the Medical Department on different issues related to clinical trials operations and regulation ensuring compliance with the company guidelines, LEEM Ethics Code, and the applicable legislation.

Work may also involve other areas, as required.

What we expect of you

We are all different, yet we all use our outstanding contributions to serve patients. What we seek in you as a professional guide, are these qualifications and skills:

  • Law degree from a recognized university law faculty. Admission to the French Bar is appreciated.

  • First or second professional experience (4-5 years preferable) in a law firm and/or life sciences company, with experience of handling similar activities to those listed above. Knowledge and experience of French pharmaceutical regulations.

  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration with different partners.

  • Full professional proficiency in English and French (including contract drafting skills).

  • Reliable, solution oriented and collaborative partner to the business, capable of understanding the motivations and objectives driving activities when counseling clients.

  • Good judgment, capable of assessing and counseling internal clients on appropriate legal risks, knowing when to raise matters.

  • Self-aware person who can optimally handle client expectations, knows their own limits, and can work well with a variety of personalities/capabilities in cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Proactive “self-starter” who is committed and capable of taking the lead on projects to drive clear and timely outcomes.

  • Capable of issue spotting, providing clear legal guidance and communicating alternative/creative solutions to legal problems.

  • Conducts self in an ethical manner and is respectful of others without exception.
