Amgen Job Description

The Compliance Lead & Data Protection Officer is the primary representative of Worldwide Compliance & Business Ethics (WC&BE) for Amgen Mexico. This position is responsible for fostering an ethical culture within the Affiliate and in our interactions with the healthcare community and government officials. The Compliance Lead works cross-functionally to ensure that Amgen Mexico implements the necessary controls, training and communications to demonstrate an effective compliance program both internally and externally in the healthcare community in Mexico.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic compliance support to the GM and local Management Team on general business activities, such as projects/initiatives, launch planning and activities, 'Tone at the Top' initiatives, and brand plans.

  • Provide leadership, advice, guidance, direction and support to office and field-based staff, and applicable third parties on the interpretation and implementation of the local Code of Practice and Amgen Healthcare Compliance policies, procedures and practices.

  • Draft, revise and maintain all local Healthcare Compliance SOPs and policies.

  • Support the ongoing operation of the Global Compliance System of Record.

  • Develop training materials and deliver frequent Healthcare Compliance and anti-corruption trainings, including new hire orientations.

  • Implement all requirements of the Global Anti-Bribery and Corruption program and applicable provisions of Mexico's Sistema Nacional Anticorrupción .

  • Conduct local Healthcare Compliance monitoring activities and support the business in designing and implementing improvement actions.

  • Support periodic Corporate Audits and Design Reviews.

  • Support local investigations, as required.

  • Serve as the Affiliate's Data Protection Officer.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 3 - 5 years of experience working in the pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry, including experience in implementation of compliance programs, policies, training and communications.

  • In-depth knowledge on laws, regulations and codes applicable to the pharmaceutical industry; e.g . Law General de Salud , Sistema Nacional Anticorrupción , CETIFARMA Codes, etc.

  • Highest standards of ethics and integrity.

  • Verbal and written fluency in both Spanish and English.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; a flexible, collaborative and team-oriented approach to problem-solving; and an ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

  • Effective planning and organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities and provide a high-level of services across multiple stakeholders.

  • Experience working with the GM, local Management Team, and other cross-functional representatives.

  • Ability to operate both independently and as part of a larger in-house Compliance team.

  • Flexibility to travel within Mexico and occasional travel to other Amgen locations.

  • General understanding of privacy laws and risks, including the Ley Federal de Protección de Datos Personales en Posesión de los Particulares.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in law and/or business.

  • 5 - 10 years in the pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry.

  • Project management experience.
