What you will do

In this vital role will work globally and cross functionally to hone Amgen’s digital web strategy, conceptualize and execute critical digital capability builds suitable for our commercial and Medical functions, and oversee global web operations and governance.

You will be responsible to define Amgen’s global web ambition, establish our web standards and guidance, identify strategic opportunities and lead execution to standardize Amgen’s compliant approach to web operations, lead development and scaling of strategic web solutions, optimize our global governance for the web channel, advise global Commercial and Medical functions and local affiliates on web solutions to solve their business needs, lead change management and the adoption of new web solutions and processes; and act as product owner for strategic digital assets.

Driving our digital strategy is a critical success factor for Amgen. The successful candidate will assess market trends and listen to our global affiliates across Commercial and Medical to shape the vision, as well as inspire their team to oversee the critical collaborations and milestones needed to get us there.

This Director position will report to the Executive Director of Global Customer Capabilities (GCC), Digital, and will collaborate closely with leadership and multiple cross functional partners across Amgen.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess the digital landscape internal and external to Amgen to stay on top of trends, ensure future proofing, and drive better experiences for our end users

Work with a broad array of global cross-functional partners within commercial, medical, marketing, technology, compliance, legal, regulatory, privacy, and data & analytics to achieve our goals in a compliant and effective manner

Work to identify and drive efficiencies to improve processes, operating models, speed to market, and compliant access to data

Effectively partner with Amgen’s 3rd parties to benchmark and pressure test ideas, and foster a culture of collaboration

Manage, coach, and inspire team members to ensure they are fulfilled and understand how their work aligns with Amgen’s mission of serving patients

Act as Business owner for multiple web solutions across global commercial and medical functions

Maintain awareness and drive pull through within the web space re: compliance and privacy nuances across the globe (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, CPRA)

Understand the crucial importance of change management and act as a champion with a strong ethical ability to influence

Prioritize, forecast, and effectively manage a budget

Employ a fact-based approach, based on data and analytics, to propose and support ideas in the digital space

Promote an environment of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DI&B)

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of commercial or medical operations, information sciences, and/or project management experience

Or

Master’s degree and 8 years of commercial or medical operations, information sciences, and/or project management experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of commercial or medical operations, information sciences, and/or project management experience

And

4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical skills including the ability to understand Amgen’s systems/ecosystem, websites, data & user flows, registration, and validation needs across the globe, GxP requirements, and integrations

  • 3+ years of managerial experience directly managing people

  • 5+ years of experience working in commercial or medical leadership roles

  • Prior experience with cross functional team leadership

  • Understanding and experience working in Agile methodology model

  • Strong relationship building skills, with proven ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with stakeholders

  • Ability to exercise strong decision-making skills and live up to the highest ethical standards

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong track record in leading cross-functional teams in a matrix environment
