Senior Associate, Data Engineer

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will develop, coordinate, and improve Amgen’s cybersecurity metrics and analytics platform, generating relevant reports and visualizations to assist in identifying and managing risks across the organization. Use sophisticated queries and calculations to build both standalone reports and dashboards as art of a standard Security Metrics Program. Collaborate with data engineers, service owners, system owners, and multi-functional leadership in various time zones.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop unified dashboards displaying strategic, operational, and tactical level views of various metrics using analytics tools such as Tableau, Spotfire, R, etc.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with analysts, engineers, data scientists to identify & prioritize requirements, brainstorm solutions, and clarify business objectives for data-centric solutions to improve our cyber defense/resilience

  • Manage the design and development of on-demand reporting solutions

  • Develop innovative ways to generate insight and provide technical solutions for populating and automating financial, operational, and performance dashboards

  • Assist with data discovery for enhancing reports and designing efficient data stores

  • Maintain the program’s vision and ensure continuous learning and awareness of the changing analytics environment

  • Work with data owners and data engineers to provide clear documentation for metrics and processes

  • Develop, implement, and sustain operational scripts, data structures, libraries and programming code that optimize security in emergent compute patterns with diverse applications throughout the global environment

  • Analyze, design, develop and operate programs, shell scripts, tests, and infrastructure automation capabilities in an advanced security context

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree OR Associate’s degree and 4 years of Data Science / Data Science Engineering / Product Engineering experience

  • Working experience with data analytic tools (e.g., Tableau, Splunk, Spotfire, Hadoop)

  • Skilled programmer with sufficient experience in high level programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python, R, Visual Basic

  • Experience working in Agile and/or DevOps teams (SCRUM)

  • Familiarity with various application technology stacks (BI stacks) and technology domains (Data Analytics)

  • Ability to convey and influence complex information security risks and issues in a manner that is easily understood and meaningful

  • Clear understanding of Relational and Dimensional database modeling

  • Self-starter with a high degree of initiative, solid organizational skills, and customer service focus

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to explain technical matters to a non-technical audience

Preferred certifications:

  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

  • CompTIA Security+ Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

  • SANS Global Information Assurance Certifications (GIAC)
