Amgen Strategic Sourcing Manager in Juncos, Puerto Rico

We have an immediate need for a premier Sourcing Manager to join Amgen's Global Strategic Sourcing team. This is an outstanding opportunity to take on a variety of challenges and responsibilities around our manufacturing operation at Puerto Rico site, Amgen Manufacturing Limited - a state-of-the-art biotechnology facility located at Juncos.
In this role, you will be driving the initiatives to improve internal processes, reduce cost, provide better support to business and functional areas related to Manufacturing and Operations. Along with assisting and mentorship Business Partners and Team members to develop, drive and execute initiatives related to suppliers. You will potentially be responsible for a Global or Regional Category at same time to develop a multi-year sourcing strategy.
Other responsibilities are driving Global, Regional and/or Local sourcing actions, act as the interface between Global/Regional Category Managers and the Site Leadership Team (SLT) and business/functional areas in leading key supplier relationships by supporting communications, building cross-category knowledge, and adopting sourcing standard methodologies.

We operate in an outstanding and fast-paced environment where you will collaborate cross functionally and be a key partner in the Amgen global sourcing network, working with our Global Sourcing colleagues, the manufacturing sites in Puerto Rico, as well with the Regional Global Sourcing teams in U.S., and other regions (JPAC, Intercontinental and Europe), as required.
The GSS Team is a group of experienced consultants on strategic sourcing. We work closely with the management of our operations team to supports the business plans, supplier development, contract negotiation, supply chain infrastructure, and outsourcing.
Your main responsibilities:
Serve as a liaison between various departments / collaborators by providing reports and data analysis while ensuring the flow of communication between groups.
Identify client groups, evaluate customer requirements to find a match with industry and supplier offerings.
Work with Business Areas and Stakeholders to opportunities for improvements in areas such as supplier innovation, costs reductions among others.
Establish and lead cross-functional sourcing in selection of suppliers and negotiations.
Must possess an excellent understanding of procedures and guidelines to conduct highly ethical process related to RFx and any other mean of procurement channel (Purchase Order, Contract or Agreement).
Analyze, understand and make decisions using financial concepts: Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Cost-Benefit analysis, Supplier’s financial stability / risk.
Make sure compliance of Amgen Financial and Sourcing procedures are followed.
Partner with Corporate Risk Management and Legal to assess Insurance policy coverage and Terms and Conditions for contracted suppliers.
Apply Lean and Operational Excellence Principles.
Maintain electronic files and archives in inspection readiness state
You will Need:
Master’s degree and 3 years of Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing or Purchasing experience in regulated industry
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing or Purchasing experience in regulated industry
Beyond that, you will also need:
C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manager) from I.S.M. (Institute of Supply Management), a plus.
5+ years of Strategic Sourcing or Purchasing experience.
Extensive knowledge of sourcing and category management practices and principles while working in the Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology industry or similar regulatory environment.
Possess strong interpersonal, facilitation and proactive skills.
Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), Project Management, Facilitation and Presentation Skills
Highly proficient with Excel, MS Office Suite, e-procurement tools such as Ariba, SAP, etc. and business intelligent softwares.
Independent, self-starter, proactive to support and close out issues.
Ability to own and strengthen relationships with key business partners & executives.
Bilingual Spanish and English proficiency
