Amgen Process Development Associate Scientist - Drug Product in Juncos, Puerto Rico

SUMMARY

To perform experiments, organize data and analyze results under minimal supervision. With minimal supervision, plans, conducts or monitors experiments, records and organizes data, analyses results. Generates robust and reliable data and/or ensures that contracted studies are conducted in compliance with the respective protocol and applicable guidelines and regulations.

SPECIFIC RESPONSABILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Plans, monitors or conducts, analyzes and records experiments, and provides interpretation of data.

  • Communicates data and interpretation to work group.

  • Skilled at developing systems to ensure quality data.

  • Contributes to internal/external reports, papers, presentations, regulatory documents, invention disclosure submissions and/or patents.

  • Participates in department-wide support efforts such as safety, recruiting and committees.

  • May train staff and/or supervise others.

  • Coordinates and organizes resources needed to complete the task.

  • Understands when to seek input and when to make independent judgments.

  • Work with large, complex data sets. Solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed.

  • Conduct end-to end analysis that includes data gathering and requirements specifications, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations.

  • Interact cross-functionally with a wide variety of people and teams.

  • Partner to develop and implement analysis, forecasting, and optimization methods to improve Amgen's processes.

BASIC EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree & 2 years of data analysis experience in the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device or Bio-pharma industry

OR

Master's degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education discipline/background in Sciences and/or Engineering.

  • Background in a quantitative discipline like statistics, operations research, mathematics and/or systems engineering

  • Relevant work experience in data analysis (e.g. as a statistician, data scientist, computational biologist, bio-informatician) within the pharmaceutical, Medical device or Bio-pharma industry.

  • Experience with statistical software (e.g. R, MATLAB, SAS) and database languages (e.g. SQL)

  • Experience with statistical data analysis such as linear models, multivariate analysis, and stochastic models

  • Experience articulating business questions and using mathematical techniques to arrive at an answer using available data

  • Demonstrated skills in selecting the right statistical tools given a data analysis problem

  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Working knowledge of analytical methodologies and analytical instruments qualification programs

  • Excellent computer technical writing skills

  • Good communications skills in English and Spanish
