Amgen Senior Manager, Compliance Investigator, JAPAC in Hong Kong, Hong Kong
The Compliance Investigator will report directly to the Compliance Director who is responsible for the OUS investigations function covering EU/TMEA & JAPAC.
The Compliance Investigator position is a key member of Amgen's Worldwide Compliance & Business Ethics function and is responsible for leading internal compliance investigations across JAPAC (occasionally involving a US focus).
As part of Amgen's global investigations team, the Compliance Investigator will work closely with colleagues covering US, LATAM and EU/TMEA compliance investigation work in order to collaborate on the Group's strategic oversight capabilities.
Within the JAPAC region the Compliance Investigator is responsible for the corporate strategy on investigations and for achieving Amgen's compliance objectives. The Compliance Investigator will act as a strategic partner to the business and ensure internal compliance investigations involving bribery, corruption, fraud, healthcare compliance and similar high risk areas are completed to an excellent standard and in a timely manner.

In addition to making broader contributions to the global compliance strategy, the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
Serve as Chair of a cross-functional Regional Intake & Triage Committee and will lead the committee in triaging and tracking all reports of potential non-compliance.
Oversee and co-ordinate the activities of Amgen staff or third parties (such as outside counsel or external investigative services firms) that support compliance and ensure such activities are conducted consistently with Amgen requirements.
Conduct investigations, including interviewing witnesses, gathering and analysing records, reaching conclusions as needed, conducting a root cause analysis to ensure appropriate corrective action is identified.
Ensure that controlled investigation documents applicable to the region (policies and standard operating procedures) and processes reflect existing legal and other (e.g. industry codes) requirements and are in line with current and future needs of Amgen's regional operations.
Prepare written summaries, reports and conduct briefings with the Chief Compliance Officer and/or senior management.
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities and best practice for internal investigation processes.
Shape strategies for investigations in JAPAC as well as contribute to the overall policy for global investigations.
Serve as an expert advisor to the JAPAC regional management with reference to compliance investigation work.
Provide high quality advice and guidance to the Worldwide Compliance & Business Ethics function.
Act as a representative for the JAPAC region where appropriate.
Substantial experience in internal investigations, or a combination of investigation and audit experience gained within the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry. Outstanding candidates with relevant experience gained in other industry sectors will be considered.
A demonstrable track record of leading investigations of non-compliance in a sizeable international company in jurisdictions corresponding with and relevant to Amgen's JAPAC region. This should include anti-bribery and corruption issues, fraud and/ or healthcare investigations.
Experience of working in lesser developed regions and first-hand experience and awareness of the cultural and geopolitical nuances in emerging markets.
Resilient and at ease with a diverse and heavy workload and open to travel across the region.
Experience of conducting or overseeing investigations in jurisdictions with significant labour law and/or privacy or data protection requirements applicable to corporate investigation processes.
An ability to articulate and implement understandable, layperson-friendly recommendations for the development and enhancement of the compliance investigations function.
Up-to-date extensive knowledge of current and emerging legislation, standards and regulations as well as compliance investigation monitoring techniques in anti-corruption and bribery, in particular with regard to constituents of the JAPAC region.
Ability to develop relationships at all levels to provide confidence in the quality and effectiveness of services provided by the compliance investigations team and to ensure that relevant advice is sought proactively at all appropriate stages.
Understanding of forensics and /or data analytics

- JAPAC Region- Hong Kong, Singapore or Shanghai
- A good undergraduate degree, ideally in Natural Sciences or Law, with a further professional qualification (legal, accountancy etc.) preferred but not essential.
- Fluent oral and written English communication skills are essential and proficiency in other relevant languages will be advantageous.
