Amgen Manager External Supply in Dublin, Ireland

The EU Supplier Relationship Manager represents Amgen and Operations as a point of contact with External Supply SRE’s, Suppliers and Amgen Manufacturing Facilities in the EU region. Working closely with Operations cross functional groups to include SRE’s, External Supply Quality, Site Supply Chain, Site Manufacturing teams and with Suppliers, the Supplier Relationship Manager works to evaluate and improve on supplier performance in relation to quality, agility, efficiency and reliability while striving to reduce variability and assure ongoing continuous improvement.

This role requires networking across key Operations’ functions, to ensure and optimize material supply. This includes engaging in problem solving efforts and liaison with stakeholders to determine path forward for resolution of problems and implementation of solutions. The Supplier Relationship Manager will attend supplier Business Reviews, EU Site Material Review Meetings and External Supply Work Centre Teams as required to provide updates on status of sites and suppliers within their area of responsibility and to take actions to address issues and improve performance. The Supplier Relationship Manager will work to build strong working relationships between suppliers and Amgen stakeholders to facilitate the achievement of common objectives. A key requirement in building these relationships is in visiting supplier sites to observe and understand the process for manufacture and distribution of materials for use in Amgen products.

The Supplier Relationship Manager will work with Amgen systems and utilize Amgen Operational Excellence methodologies to monitor supplier performance and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partnering with suppliers and Amgen teams to establish and progress objectives for development, supply and continuous improvement

  • Collaboration with Amgen functional stakeholders and partner’s leadership to ensure alignment

and success

  • Driving cross-functional communication and integration of information

  • Act as point of contact for sites for escalation to supplier / SRE to assist in resolution of issues in a timely manner

  • Proactively identifying and mitigating risks in the supply chain

  • Align with the Amgen Supplier Relationship Excellence (SRE) framework in supporting External Supply SRE’s and Amgen Manufacturing Sites

  • Maintain understanding of global activities at Amgen sites and external supplier(s) and act as point of contact for supply issues.

  • Ensure that external trends and drivers, historical decisions and key learnings are shared via appropriate knowledge management tools.

  • Own / Support Completion of Quality Records in the QMTS and CCMS systems

  • Develop and maintain expertise on areas of responsibility and keep informed on breakthroughs in technologies, materials, innovations, etc

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of available suppliers in the region for each material type

  • Support draft, issue and collation of RFP’s

  • Support completion of due diligence activities at EU suppliers and provide advice on supplier selection decisions

  • Support activities in qualification and set up of new suppliers and new materials

  • Monitor supplier performance against MSA / Scorecards, etc

  • Provide feedback on observations relating to supplier performance to SRE

  • Attend supplier weekly meetings and business reviews and provide input on review of scorecards

  • Liaise with Sites, SRE Team and Supplier to identify and implement actions for correction, prevention and improvement

  • Support SRE with SICAR / EN ownership, documentation and follow up

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering Related Field & 8 years of Operations experience

  • Doctorate / Master’s degree & 4 years of Operations experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in the biotechnology/ pharmaceutical industry including leadership roles

(e.g., team leadership or functional leadership roles) in key Operations functions (e.g., Supply

Chain, Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Device Engineering, Device

Program Management.)

  • Advanced degree in Science or Engineering and/or MBA.

  • Additional diverse assignments in Operations support (Planning, Compliance, Engineering, etc.)

and ex-Operations functions (Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Development, Finance, etc.)

  • 3+ years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources.

  • Specific experience with raw materials, primary container, device and/or combination product development, manufacturing, and supply chain.

  • Proficient with device and/or pharmaceutical product commercialization and life cycle

  • Demonstrated experience leading and motivating diverse, cross-functional teams.

  • Knowledge of/experience with Supplier Relationship Management.
