The Director Plant Engineering F&E will be accountable for providing a comprehensive Engineering service to the Patient Supply organisation. This includes all Engineering interfaces on and off site such as Capital Projects, F&E Sub Functions, Equipment Vendors and Engineering Networks.
As an integral member of the Patient Supply Leadership team the Director Plant Engineering F&E will ensure world class equipment availability and reliability in support of manufacturing operations while also ensuring that our production assets evolve in line with strategic requirements and industry expectations.
The Director Plant Engineering F&E will take a strategic and sustainable approach to the development of talent within the Engineering function to ensure the Engineering needs of patient supply are met now and in the future.
The Director of Engineering will establish and manage the required capital and expense budgets to deliver the short- and long-term goals of the Patient Supply organisation.
Provides direction, sets high expectations and measures teams’ performance in delivering world class availability and reliability for production operations.
Maintains the manufacturing facility & associated equipment to the highest standards in compliance with Amgen Operating Standards and established and evolving regulatory requirements.
Maintains the qualified state of the facility and owns the process of effective design, installation, start-up and commissioning of facility and/or process equipment.
Develops and implements maintenance and calibration programs for cGMP equipment.
Planning and execution of shutdowns, projects within or associated with the production areas
Ensures adequate resources, equipment, personnel, contracts, training and facilities are provided to fulfill the required Engineering services within patient supply.
Ensures Engineering operations and procedures are compliant with cGMP requirements and regulations.
Ensures that area staff and contracted personnel are qualified and trained for assigned roles to perform assigned tasks.
Alerts senior management of significant quality, compliance, supply and safety risks
Develops and owns the integrated 5-year strategic capital plan for patient supply.
Establishes and owns the process for project prioritisation and delivery management in patient supply.
Continuously reviews and improves engineering processes and systems to ensure continuing suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness, and evaluates the need for changes. Thinks LEAN and embeds LEAN concepts in engineering operations.
Ensures effective integration and communication of engineering activities aligned with the production schedule.
Continuously refines and updates RASCI documentation to ensure that roles and responsibilities are clear with regard to other technical functions at the site.
Manages all interfaces with site support engineering functions.
Manages all interfaces with corporate engineering functions.
Routinely reports progress against goals, strategy and key performance metrics.
Performance management to develop, coach and mentor of Engineering associates, as well as performance evaluation of direct reports.
Manages relationship with the TEEU union both tactically and strategically on site.
Perform other management responsibilities as defined by manager.

Master’s degree and 8 years of directly related experience or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or associated discipline and 10 years of directly related experience.
A minimum of 4 years managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, and programs or directing the allocation of resources.
Experience operating in a unionised environment.
Experience delivering services in a 24hr manufacturing facility.
Excellent team development skills.
