Amgen Sr. Manager Finance in Diegem, Belgium

Scope - Responsible for directing Finance & Admin (F&A) as well as Sales & Marketing Effectiveness (SME) department of Amgen BeLux nv

Accountabilities to the General Manager and Finance Dir Mid-Sized Markets (MSM)

•Leads, organises and resources the company’s F&A and SME activities

•Assesses performance and identifies, retains and develops key talent for the organisation

•Ensures that day-to-day F&A as well as SME are handled properly and according to corporate and local instructions, accounting practices, applicable local laws and ethical business practices

Responsibilities- manages a team that:

•Provides robust and objective financial analysis with interpretation and recommendations to the GM in support of decisions

•Provides financial and business support to operations

•Supervises and ensures timely and accurate execution of all accounting and financial (e.g., budget, forecasts, month end close, controlling, reporting, taxation, treasury, internal audit) tasks

•Manages fiscal (i.e., profitability) results with GM and Management Team

•Ensures implementation and adherence to corporate and applicable guidelines (e.g. Belgian, EU, US, etc.)

•Manages bank relationships and maximises return on cash

•Approves all outgoing manual payments

•Ensures corporate credit management policies are applied

•Supervises budget control, financial analysis, budget reporting & consolidation into MSM and ultimately into EU

•Finds solutions to potential fiscal and social issues with the help of internal and/or external advisors, if needed•Coaches and mentors F&A and SME department staff•Ensures MAP Process for F&A Department


•Resources ( budget and staff)

•Priority and control of projects in his/her department

•Takes decisions and control within company guidelines


•Budget proposals and presentations to MSM regional team

•Quarterly forecasts for budget owners and MSM regional team

•Month-, Quarter- and year-end closing

•Ad hoc reports analysis on financial projects

•Response to Audits/Controls from internal/external entities

•Developed and motivated staff at the functional leve

l•Performance tracking of commercial teams as part of SME activities

Minimum Requirements

•University degree in Economics, Finance or Business Administration

•10+ years aggregate experience in different managerial functions within Finance

•Proficient in Financial Planning and Analysis state-of-the-art know-how

•Excellent general business knowledge (e.g., industry, finance, applicable laws, tax, insurances)

•Working knowledge of IS systems (including demonstrated capability of Hyperion SAP, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

•Fluency in English, both in oral and written communication

Preferred Requirements

•MBA from leading school•Experience in pharmaceutical industry

•>12 years of experience in Finance and >10 years in managerial and/or team leader position

•Experience with US GAAP•Experience in leading a Finance & Administration function in a matrix and international environment

•Fluency in Dutch and/or French
