Responsibilities (what does this role do)

As a member of the franchise team,

•Develops, at the direction of the BUM (asked and not asked) and in collaboration with the other team members, market and financial analyses in support of the product strategy.

•Initiates and coordinates BU and affiliate encompassing market research

•Develops an appropriate BU forecasting model and prepares with the other team members the proposed Budget / LE

•Manage & optimize P&L of business unit

•Evaluates opportunity and risk of different product strategies, programs and tactics (e.g. evaluates lifecycle opportunities)

•Coordinates with sales managers and product managers to ensure that marketing assumptions are appropriately linked to sales performance metrics and targets (e.g. support SAP and SIP)

•Maximizes the utilization of the available primary and secondary data sources/systems & quantitative competitive data in support of audience/product

As a member of the Sales & Marketing Effectiveness/Finance team

•Develops and maintains best practices and shared approaches and coordinates across audiences and products

•Conforms to agreed planning and analyses processes

•Builds Amgen’s capability in market analysis and planning

Accountabilities (for what and to whom)

To a Business Unit Manager (and his franchise team):

•Delivering market and financial analysis in support of audience and product needs to maximize market value

To the Manager Finance / Sales & Marketing Effectiveness

•Delivering analysis and plans in a manner consistent with agreed commercial processes

Outputs (what does this role need to deliver)

•Planning framework and calendar

•Business unit forecasting model and assumptions (sales & operating expenses)

•Ad hoc market and financial analyses

•Audited sales database

•Associated templates, training materials etc

Authority (what does this role control)

•Development and use of the local BU business planning models (forecasting, CRM, COP, LRP)


Minimum Requirements

•Masters Degree (or equivalent based on gained experience) in Economical or Financial Sciences

•At least three years of relevant experience.

•Fluent in English, both in oral and written communication.

•Strong Excel knowledge & financial acumen

Preferred Requirements

•Fluent in Dutch and French, mainly in oral communication

•Experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

•Experience in the assigned therapeutic areas.


•Knowledge and ability to work well within a matrix environment to influence successful product development and commercialization

•Strategic thinker with ability to formulate, develop, write and execute market analysis and business forecasts, an ability to capture important insights from the marketplace, and with a working knowledge of clinical development, regulatory, operations and finance

•Ability to champion ideas, focus on results and command respect through exercise of sound business judgment and clear decision-making

•Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, focus, and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures, and disciplines (medical, finance, licensing, sales, marketing)

•Ability to interpret commercial, medical and economic product data and positioning and develop sound analytical data to support marketing strategies.

•Management skills-- planning, prioritization, objective setting, meeting management, project management and plan execution

•Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both orally and in writing at all levels

•Creative problem solver
