At Amgen Research Copenhagen (ARC) we are currently seeking a hardworking, enthusiastic, team-spirited, goal-oriented and hands-on Scientist to join our DNA-Encoded Library (DEL) Production team. If you have a strong desire to learn and want to work in the exciting interface of chemistry and biology, we may have a highly interesting job for you. The DEL production team is responsible for the generation of high-quality compound libraries containing billions of novel DNA-encoded small molecules, including the development and optimization of new DNA-compatible chemistries used for library generation. The open position is lab-based and offers the chance to work with both molecular biology techniques and chemistry, most commonly gel electrophoresis and DNA ligation and parallel processes with combinatorial synthetic chemistry.
This position is a fixed term maternity leave cover assignment of 12 months with the possibility of extension.
The position offers technical and scientific challenges within an exciting new field of drug discovery. You will together with the DNA-Encoded Library Production Team participate in, among others:
Design and synthesis of novel DNA-encoded compounds
Optimization of existing DNA-compatible chemistries
Development of new DNA-compatible chemistries for our libraries
Understanding structure reactivity relationship of library fragments
Quality control of library fragments
Optimization of library generation processes
The ideal candidate should:
Hold a M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry or related discipline with a solid understanding of organic chemistry as well as an insight in chemical biology with focus on DNA
Have documented understanding of drug discovery
Have a structured working approach, a desire for bench work, multitasking skills, good computer skills, be good at trouble shooting, be very comfortable working both individually and in teams
Show high motivation, dedication, creativity with an ambition to succeed
Collaborate with other scientists and professionals outside the department
Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a fast-paced team environment
Have excellent people, communication and English language skills
Knowledge of basic office and chemistry software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ChemDraw, and SciFinder.
