Amgen Fixed term contract for Medicinal Chemist at Amgen Research Denmark in Copenhagen, Denmark

Amgen Research Copenhagen (ARC) is, through our DNA Encoded Library (DEL) technology, contributing significantly to Amgen’s many small molecule drug discovery projects from hit discovery all the way to drug candidate selection.

We are currently seeking a candidate who will be part of various teams bringing projects from hit discovery though lead optimization in collaboration with our colleagues in the US. This is a temporary one year position.

The position will primarily involve chemistry bench work, but also data mining, design of new compounds, and interpretation of biological data. You will be working closely together with other medicinal chemists as well as biologists and participate with your chemistry expertise in the process of identifying, synthesizing, validating, and optimizing hits from our DEL libraries in order to reach project and thereby company goals.

Specifically, tasks will include:

· Synthesis and characterization of screening hits and related compounds

· Development of synthesis strategies

· Design and execution of hit follow-up campaigns incl. SAR explorations

· Interpretation of biological data

· Discussion of scientific results at team meetings

· Teamwork in a fast-moving and international environment

Qualifications:

Candidates should hold a Master’s, preferably Ph.D., degree in organic chemistry or related disciplines with a solid understanding of organic and medicinal chemistry. The ideal candidate will have:

· Strong theoretical and hands-on experience within organic synthesis

· Knowledge of medicinal chemistry and drug discovery

· Excellent collaborations and team player skills

· Excellent English communication skills

· Outspoken personality with an urge for creating high-quality results
