Amgen's Pivotal Attribute Sciences department (within the Process Development organization) at our Cambridge, Massachusetts site is looking for an undergraduate co-op student interested in a 6-month laboratory-based co-op assignment. The Co-op will be trained in advanced analytical methodologies utilizing state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation. The Co-op will work on developing quantitative methods for protein characterization using liquid chromatography (1D, 2D, Multi-dimensional Methods (MDM)), capillary/microfluidic electrophoresis coupled to mass spectrometry. The Co-op will also receive training in the design and execution of experiments, as well as in the evaluation of experimental results. The Co-op will be part of a cross-functional team with opportunities to interact with and learn from a diverse team of professional scientists and present his/her work in a collaborative setting.
This position presents an excellent opportunity to learn a broad range of state-of-the-art analytical techniques in application to testing and characterization of product quality attributes in the context of biopharmaceutical process development.
Relocation in the form of a miscellaneous allowance will be provided for eligible candidates.
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
18 years or older
Currently enrolled in a full time Bachelor's Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
Enrolled in a full time Bachelor's degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
Degree concentration(s) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
Completed courses in Quantitative Analysis and Analytical Chemistry (also typically called Instrumental Analysis)
Completed general chemistry laboratory courses
