Junior System Analyst / Associate System Analyst

Amgen Information Systems team are looking for an Associate IS Systems Analyst to join the UK the UK Research & Development Informatics organization. Based in either our UK Uxbridge or UK Cambridge locations, the System Analyst works in an IS team to manage and maintain the systems supporting the Global Patient Safety business function.

Our Global Information System Team:

We are a team of system and domain experts and you will be an active participant in all aspects of supporting the Global Patient Safety business function. This is a global function and supports regulatory requirements from all regions and countries where Amgen products are developed or marketed. As the business needs for Global Patient Safety are evolving constantly as new legislation, data standards, and regulatory requirements are changing globally, we are looking to grow our UK based team.

Systems Analyst role overview:

The role is specifically focused on the intake of individual adverse event reports from multiple sources in multiple formats and distribution of Safety reports as required by regulatory and clinical requirements.

You will be responsible for communicating and collaborating across different IS teams to analyze business needs and develop solutions. As a successful System Analyst, you will be responsible for the overall operation, development and maintenance of specific services within the IS team and will develop expert domain knowledge in their assigned area. This role will include analyzing business requirements, support, release management, maintenance of documents, and tracking and managing change tasks or incidents.

Responsibilities:

The role requires the aptitude to learn a complex business domain quickly and the agility to respond to rapidly evolving internal and external requirements. The ability to be organized, communicate clearly, and focus on detail will be critical. This role specifically will cover:

  • Oversight of services supporting the Global Patient Safety business function.

  • Supports global, regional and local R&D IS projects, liaising with colleagues locally and globally

  • Partners with business and technology resources to elicit, analyze, translate, and document business requirements into functional and non-functional requirements and design

  • Analyzes, documents and tests program development, logic, process flows and specifications.

  • Understands the System Development Life Cycle, Agile development methodology and regulated system validation standards (GxP)

  • Executes testing including test data setup, test script authoring/review and defect analysis

  • Partners with business resources to conduct user acceptance testing.

  • Maintains knowledge repositories and other supporting documentation

  • Prepares for and ensures that documentation stands up to audits and inspections; provides further documentation as necessary.

  • Act as an IS business partner for the Global Patient Safety business functions, understanding business requirements and act as a point of escalation for support issues.

Qualifications and required experience:

  • Degree educated in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Engineering or Life Sciences

  • Proven experience in Information Systems and Business Analysis

  • Strong organisational skills with eye for detail

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

Proven experience and skills needed:

  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrable experience in presenting technology recommendations from a business perspective

  • You have experience with working in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry and current approaches to GxP computer related systems
