The Team:

This new role has been created to meet the needs of our rapidly growing product portfolio across the UK and Ireland, including our new biosimilars business. Based within our busy Cambridge office, the Commercial Lead has responsibility for leading a team of four experienced professionals responsible for Contracts and Pricing, Tendering and Supply Chain for the UK/Ireland affiliate. Reporting to the Finance Director, this role will appeal to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment in a matrixed organisation, who is experienced in managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

The Role:

The successful candidate will lead the Commercial team to:

  • apply in-depth knowledge of UK and Irish pharmaceutical markets and financial acumen to devise pricing strategies and innovative pricing and contracting solutions;

  • shape Amgen's tender strategy and oversee submission of high value tenders to UK and Irish health authorities;

  • manage UK/Ireland customer prices, contracts and rebates in compliance with Amgen's global and regional policies;

  • proactively develop relationships with key procurement contacts within the UK/Ireland health services to provide insights on issues impacting the effective commercialisation of our products;

  • apply commercial expertise to pricing discussions with key national/private sector procurement customers on behalf of the business;

  • provide a source of internal consultancy for the business on all aspects of our UK/Ireland supply chain, in compliance with GDP, partnering with Amgen's EU Logistics Hub in the Netherlands;

  • build an internal network and partner closely with EU Pricing Directors as a representative of one of the Big Five EU markets;

  • ensure monitoring of our compliance with NHS Framework agreements and the performance of other contracts and tenders.

Basic qualifications:

  • Previous senior commercial role in UK/Irish pharmaceutical business

  • Experienced line manager and experience of working with/leading a cross functional team

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

  • Demonstrated strong financial acumen and analytical capability; finance or business qualification (ACA/MBA an advantage)

  • Excellent pharmaceutical industry and healthcare system knowledge across both UK and Ireland

  • Experience in contracting, pricing and tendering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience of managing Patient Access Schemes or Value Based Healthcare Solutions

  • Experience in leading customer pricing negotiations, with documented success in such a role

  • Familiar with GDP requirements; previous experience of managing third party LSP relationships or distribution experience within the pharmaceutical industry an advantage
