R&D Biologics Discovery (In Vitro Pharmacology)- Undergraduate Co-op

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. During this program, you will join our bioassay team in In Vitro Pharmacology Group. The group specializes in the development of custom cell-based bioassays catered for specific scientific needs. We are responsible for the identification and characterization of antibodies with desired functional activity using these assays. The student will work closely with a supervisor and work on projects looking into optimization of bioassays to address . We are looking for a student with a keen interest in science and willingness to learn new skills to contribute to our highly productive and collaborative team.
Use of laboratory techniques such as: cell culture and transfection, ELISA, flow cytometry, fluorescence imaging
Use of laboratory equipment such as: Envision multimode plate reader, IncuCyte imager, Bravo liquid handler, flow cytometers (FACSCanto)
Application of the knowledge from researching literature to experiments
Experimental design, execution, and data analysis/documentation
Critical evaluation and presentation of data

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
18 years or older
Currently enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
Completion of one year of study from an accredited from an accredited college or university
prior to the internship commencing
Enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
Degree concentration(s) in Biology, Immunology/Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related discipline
Able to work for two consecutive four month terms with continued employment for the second term dependent on a positive performance review at the end of the first term
General knowledge of cell biology, immunology & molecular biology
Previous lab experience, completion of previous co-op term(s)
High attention to detail and ability to comply with written procedures
Strong written and oral communications skills
Ability to function effectively as part of a team
Excellent organizational, record keeping and time management skills
