Technical Analyst - Research Informatics, Digital, Technology & Innovation

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will join the Amgen British Columbia (ABC) team to serve as a liaison between Digital, Technology & Innovation (DTI) functional areas and Research leaders to provide a better digital experience for Research staff.

You will drive support a variety of Information System needs for our scientific staff and be the Information Systems point of contact for all DTI teams. You will also work with the Enterprise Benchtop Services team which supports technology and innovation in our labs.

Responsibilities:

  • Triage help desk service requests, change requests and incident reports related to onsite IS infrastructure

  • Support site-specific technology programs and efforts for Research, including Site or Lab construction or relocation activities

  • Serve as a liaison between Information Systems functional areas and Research leaders to provide a better digital experience for Research staff

  • Key contact for site incidents and emergency response planning and management

  • Handle site-specific end-user technology needs, including data center, network bandwidth, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, conference room configurations.

  • Keep management informed of key efforts, communicate technical issues encountered to appropriate Information System functional teams and be accountable for short and long-term resolution

  • Drive consistency in processes and adoption of Scientific application systems across sites with recognition to site-specific needs where appropriate

  • Continually seek opportunities to increase Research staff satisfaction in using & adopting technology

  • Work with Global DTI teams on Network and Infrastructure for internal and external communications (e.g., Wi-Fi, phone system, AV equipment, firewall, remote access)

  • Coordinate Information Systems asset inventory management, procurement, and decommissioning

  • Ensure safety and compliance in data centers and workspaces

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degreeOR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems Help DeskOR

  • Associate degree and 6 years of experience of Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or Information System Help Desk experienceOR

  • High school diploma / GED and 8 years of experience in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems Help Desk

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows system administration and Linux systems

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with AWS including EC2 and S3 bucket creation and support

  • Ability to read and write Batch Script, VBS, and PowerShell

  • Solid grasp of Windows OS (XP > Windows 11)

  • Basic knowledge of LINUX commands for deployment of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7

  • Programming skills and experience with Microsoft programming tools including C#, ASP.NET, SQL and IIS and other tools

  • Experience creating impactful slide decks and communicating data

  • Ability to drive projects/company initiatives using Agile methodology

  • User focus with ability to work closely with customers to manage the resolution of DTI tickets in line with customer expectations and experience

  • Demonstrated experience of IT support in a Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Biotech company or equivalent industry or knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry regulated system qualification and validation processes for computer related systems
