Do more with the knowledge you’re working hard to acquire and the passion you already have. At Amgen, our shared mission—to serve patients—drives all that we do. Every day more than 1000 people from 38 different nationalities are working on supply chain processes, manufacturing, marketing, and sales of our medicines and clinical research into new medicines.

LIVE

This could be your everyday.

Amgen BV is a Dutch organization, with the primary aim to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.

This mission is closely tied to Value-Based Healthcare (VBHC), a concept that is widely spread in the Netherlands (and around the world). Many organizations across the healthcare spectrum are increasingly focusing on VBHC and becoming more patient-centric.

Therefore, it is crucial to know what other organizations’ focus on VBHC is and their approach. This will enable us to better align with other stakeholders and play an appropriate role in the transition that is accepted and acknowledged.

Last year, we set up the first VBHC Thermometer in which we quantified the sentiment on VBHC among different stakeholders. This year, we would like to check the temperature again to also see the potential effect of the presented Integral Care Act (Integraal Zorgakkoord). During this internship, you can gather these quantified insights, improve the methodology used and present your recommendations to the PA&O team.

Goal

  • Gather the most recent data related to VBHC sentiment at different stakeholders and draw your conclusions and recommendations to provide Amgen with actionable insights to further align our approach to these stakeholders.

Method

Desk research & analysis

  • Find, scan, and score all publicly available documents containing VBHC keywords

  • Improve database, data quality, and methods used (and even automate where possible)

  • Interviews with internal and external stakeholders are not part of the research but the research can be expanded with interviews to validate and test the findings and recommendations.

Planning

The first phase is about getting knowledgeable about the concept of VBHC (training for scoring the documents that are scanned) and obtaining documents in line with last year’s methodology. The second phase is to score the database of documents and to find additional documentation to score. The third phase is a rigid analysis of the findings to objectively conclude before moving to any recommendations for Amgen specific. Of course, you will be supported, by at least one supervisor that was part of the VBHC Thermometer project team last year.

Delivery of the result

A completed data search and analysis (can be extended with a report if necessary, from the university) and a final presentation to a group of colleagues, interested in this topic.
