It is key to becoming one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies. We are global collaborators who achieve together—researching, manufacturing, and delivering ever-better products that reach over 10 million patients worldwide. It’s time for a career you can be proud of. Join us as:

Industrial (Logistics) Engineer

At Amgen Breda (ABR), we label, assemble, store, and ship medicines to various countries worldwide. Our team comprises over 1000 people from 38 different nationalities, working across supply chain processes, manufacturing, clinical research, and marketing and sales.

Within ABR, Warehouse Operations are pivotal, handling the receipt, storage, and dispatch of all products and materials for the manufacturing lines. The Operations Improvement Team (OIT), including 10 skilled Subject Matter Experts and 2 Industrial Engineers, supports ABR’s Manufacturing and Warehouse Operations departments. The OIT uses observations, measurements, and data and scenario analysis to drive process changes and improvements.

As our manufacturing volume has doubled in recent years, necessitating investments in manufacturing capacity and changes to our distribution model, the existing storage systems and logistic solutions require adaptation and enhancement. To facilitate these improvements, the OIT is now seeking a 3rd Industrial (Logistics) Engineer to strengthen the team.

What You Will Do:

We are seeking an Industrial (Logistics) Engineer to join the Operations Improvement Team (OIT). The Industrial (Logistics) Engineer will identify, initiate, and lead the (re)design of warehouse storage systems and implement changes to our logistic processes. This is achieved by translating robust data analysis outcomes into efficient and purposeful logistic solutions.

The Industrial (Logistics) Engineer plays a pivotal role in implementing these solutions, collaborating closely with Warehouse Operations and the Facility & Engineering department. This involves interacting with logistic system vendors and solution providers to explore available options and build strong business cases.

Additionally, this professional will assess the impact of new requirements, changes, processes, and regulations on the department.

Are you ready for a new challenge? Let’s do this. Let’s change the world.

In this crucial role, you will:

  • Apply robust analytical skills to evaluate and interpret logistic data from multiple sources (qualitative, quantitative, and trend data).

  • Propose fit-for-purpose warehouse solutions and modifications using logistic expertise.

  • Interpret (internal) customer needs to identify improvement opportunities.

  • Monitor process performance and identify trends and improvement opportunities.

  • Keep processes aligned with ever-changing requirements by assessing impact and proposing solutions.

  • Use LEAN tools to identify constraints and drive improvements.

  • Utilize advanced data analysis combined with subject matter expertise to assist and guide decision-making by senior management on longer-term initiatives and projects.

  • Lead the implementation of selected projects and initiatives.

  • Own and/or provide input and support for quality system records (deviations, change control records, procedures).

  • Provide training and guidance to others.

What we expect of you:

We value diversity, and the (Logistics) Industrial Engineer we seek is a data-savvy implementer with these qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (Logistics, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering) combined with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Warehouse/Logistics role or a Master’s Degree with 3 years of experience.

  • Previous experience in optimizing internal value chains in a warehouse or logistics environment.

  • Good knowledge of logistic storage systems and warehouse processes.

  • Demonstrated application of analytical and problem-solving skills (such as Six Sigma or RCA).

  • Proficient user of ERP & WMS systems (SAP WM).

  • Proficiency in English, both oral and written communication.

  • Project Management skills.

What you can expect of us

As we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we work to care for our teammates’ professional and personal growth and well-being.

  • Vast opportunities to learn and move up and across our global organization.

  • Diverse and inclusive community of belonging, where teammates are empowered to bring ideas to the table and act.

  • Generous Total Rewards Plan comprising competitive salary, bonus structure, fixed 13th month, holiday allowance, and collective health insurance.

  • Focus on vitality with an on-site gym, a vitality program, and a restaurant with healthy food.

Please note:

  • An online assessment is part of the recruitment process.

  • Due to our relocation policy, for this vacancy, we can only consider candidates who reside in the Netherlands or candidates who live within a commuting distance from Amgen Breda.
