Maintenance Technician Night Shift 7pm - 7am

What you will do

Let’s do this! Let’s change the world! In this vital role you will be responsible for operating utility systems and performing maintenance activities throughout the ARI site. The position is on a rotating 12 hour night shift (7pm to 7am, day of week varies per shift schedule).

  • Operate a variety of general and pharmaceutical grade utility systems (Boilers, chillers, compressed air, purified water systems, waste system and gases)

  • Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance and repair activities on sophisticated equipment and systems used across the ARI site

  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment and systems

  • Identify equipment performance opportunities and recommends improvements to the maintenance program owners

  • Ensure activities are accomplished in a safe manner and with quality

  • Work in a highly productive and efficient manner to maximize the quantity of activities completed

  • Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and cGMP’s

  • Ensure work is appropriately communicated to system operators and key stakeholders

  • Ensure work order documentation is completed accurately and completely

  • Identify waste, work flow interrupters, and other opportunities for improvement, recommend solutions, and assisting with implementation

  • Maintain a safe work environment through adherence to safety guidelines and policies

  • Identify opportunities to learn new skills and actively participate in development that will improve overall team performance

  • Perform utilities operational and maintenance activities with minimal guidance

  • Serves as a mentor to his/her peers in his responsibilities

  • Provide coaching, guidance, be a trainer to his/her colleagues in the operation and maintenance of the utilities systems

  • Lead by example and create a positive, respectful, professional and consistent work environment at all times

  • Provide on time and accurate communication of issues and updates/reports as vital

  • Provide support when required - this may be outside of normal working hours including nights, weekends and holidays

  • Other tasks as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree and 2 years of industrial mechanic experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry OR

  • 2 years in a technical school setting with hands-on experience OR

  • High school diploma / GED and 4 years of industrial mechanic experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to interact constructively with peers/teams

  • Strong computer skills

  • Rhode Island Electrical knowledge/license

  • Rhode Island Boiler operation knowledge/license

  • Ability to provide guidance and technical advice to others

Measurement of Key Responsibilities:

  • No lost time injuries or near miss incidents

  • Minimal rework for maintenance activities executed

  • Labor hours expended are appropriate for job

  • All activities are completed per procedure

  • All observed issues are reported in a timely manner

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
