Amgen Job Description This position can be based in Seattle, WA or Thousand Oaks, CA.
Based in the Global Facility Operations group within the center of excellence organization reporting to the Director of Engineering, this position involves the development of strategic engineering priorities and providing leadership and supervision to a staff of engineers and/or technical professionals.
The engineering staff consists of six senior or principle engineers and technical professionals providing engineering oversight and direct engineering support for seven sites across the United States and Canada. The engineering staff provides support for ongoing operations and capital programs with multi-discipline knowledge in the areas of Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC and Fire Life safety systems supporting research and manufacturing facilities.
The role includes engineering oversight of consultants supporting operations and new projects across the global network; orchestrate engineering support and oversight for multiple projects with complex scope, schedule, quality and management objectives; oversee projects to ensure proper company resource allocation, prioritization, and adherence to project development schedules; coordinate with other functional groups such as Global Capital Project Management, Environmental Health and Services and Research and Development
Basic Qualifications Doctorate degree and 2 years of directly related experience
OR
Masters degree and 6 years of directly related experience
OR
Bachelors degree or and 8 years of directly related experience
OR
Associates degree and 10 years of directly related experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of directly related experience
AND
2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer license
Masters Degree
10 years experience in a facility operations/manufacturing environment trouble shooting, reliability engineering and plant optimization
5 years direct experience managing senior level engineers and contract engineers in support of facility operations
Ability to recognize strategic implications of organizations activities, execute strategic initiatives, manage multiple resource demands, prioritize resources, assess project effectiveness and efficiency and manage demands.
Proven ability to transfer departmental strategy to staff and independently develop and implement engineering programs.
Leadership and team building skills and experience in staff development, coaching and mentoring of engineering and technical staff.
Ability to communicate vertically and horizontally through multiple channels, leverage contact network to motivate diverse teams, and enable cross-functional collaboration
Direct experience with a broad group of facility and utility and distribution systems such as steam, purified water, clean steam, chilled water, and compressed gases
Working knowledge and experience with applicable codes (UBC, UMC, ASME, CBC, CMC, IFC, IBC, NFPA, NEC, etc.), cGMP procedures, and good engineering practices for biopharmaceutical facilities
Working knowledge in good maintenance practices including reliability engineering and improvement techniques
Experience in presenting to a diverse audience including management and executives.
Display technical mastery in multiple disciplines and provide technical guidance in the coordination of multiple, complex projects involving the planning, design, construction and maintenance of facilities.
Demonstrate a high degree of creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
Strong time management, organization and prioritization skills
Outstanding computer skills (MS Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and MS Project)
