Amgen Sr Associate, Business Analysis and Insights in Thousand Oaks, California

Amgen is seeking a Business Analysis and Insights (BAI) Senior Associate to lead insight generation using integrated data analytics across the Amgen product and disease portfolio, encompassing Oncology, Cardiology, Neurology, Osteoporosis, Inflammation, and Nephrology. The Associate will work closely with both BAI Director and Global Marketing leaders, as well as across the integrated product teams, to identify key areas or topics for further insights generations utilizing current and next generation analytical techniques with a range of Big Data sets. This includes analyzing claims data, EMR/EHR data sets, prescription level data, and other relevant sets. Potential analytical techniques include machine learning algorithms, quantum computing, and system dynamic simulations. This role will report to a Director of Forecasting and Analytics.


Collaborate with cross-functional commercial and product strategy teams (including marketing, medical, value access, forecasting, and competitive intelligence)

Define insight generation objectives, budgets and timelines for key analyses prioritized by team

Lead execution of analytics and generation of actionable insights from integrated data sources as supported by analytics team

Manage relationships with external vendors and consultants that assist in analytics

Drive strategic and innovative approaches to solve key business problems

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree


Bachelor's degree and 2 years of analytics, data science and/or engineering experience


Associate's degree and 6 years of analytics, data science and/or engineering experience


High school diploma / GED and 8 years of analytics, data science and/or engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience and demonstrated competencies with statistical programming languages and analyses of complex data sets

Ability to solve complex business problems

Experience programming R, Python, PyMOL, Java, and MATLAB

Ability to think strategically to help teams synthesize business problems and recommend analytical approaches to formulate insights around this

Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally in a team-based environment

Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences

Ability to influence senior marketing executives

Proficient facilitation, negotiation, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
