Senior Scientist – RNA Biology

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be part of the RNA Molecular Glue group within Amgen’s Induced Proximity Platform organization. We are seeking a motivated Scientist who will contribute to the development of new therapeutic modalities that target RNA and RNA-binding proteins. Our group is responsible for expanding our understanding of RNA biology, leveraging proximity biology to tackle the “undruggable genome”, and advancing Amgen’s drug discovery pipeline. The team member will lead projects and collaborate with a diverse group of multidisciplinary researchers to support the development of novel RNA-based therapeutic modalities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead technology development initiatives by setting project goals and timelines

  • Independently design, perform, and analyze experiments

  • Collaborate with team members across different departments

  • Present data and communicate findings to department leadership and the scientific community through conference presentation and publications

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree [and relevant post-doc where applicable]

Or

Master’s degree and 3 years of biophysics, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, or related experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of biophysics, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, or related experience

And

Advanced and proficient understanding and use of technical principles, theories, and concepts to perform an expansive range of work in a role

And

Basic knowledge of related and adjacent disciplinary areas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in RNA biology with a record of accomplishments including impactful first author peer-reviewed publications

  • Extensive research experience, including postdoctoral training, in biophysics, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, or related disciplines

  • Broad knowledge of assay development and NGS technologies

  • Strong reasoning, data analysis, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Desire to be a team player in a dynamic, cross-functional environment
