Amgen Senior Engineer-Container Science and Engineering Device Technology in Thousand Oaks, California

Amgen Thousand Oaks is looking for a Sr. Engineer to join the Container Science and Engineering group under Device Technology. This position is responsible for the application of diverse and advanced engineering principles such as fluid mechanics, mass transfer and material science. It will also provide additional capacity and capability in developing new technologies for Container Closure Integrity testing and manage project workload. This role will leverage technical skills and the ability to coordinate and communicate across different functions in order to complete projects.

Job responsibilities:

Develop container closure integrity test methods for vials, prefilled syringes, and injection devices

Characterize and develop container closure integrity test methods using advanced technologies

Execute container closure integrity testing for pipeline and commercial products

Manage and deliver critical projects across different sites and functions

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree


Master's degree and 3 years of engineering experience


Bachelor's degree and 5 years of engineering experience


Associate's degree and 10 years of engineering experience


High school diploma / GED and 12 years of engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology/Medical Devices industry

Masters in Mechanical, Biomedical, or Materials Science

Ability to coach junior engineers

Excellent written and verbal communication skills together with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

Demonstrated Competencies/Skills

Fluid flow, mass transfer, statistical analysis tools, and engineering drawings

Strong team work, excellent interpersonal and communication skills
