Amgen Information Systems Dir in Thousand Oaks, California
Amgen is seeking a Director of Information Systems to develop and implement strategies, services, and capabilities to support Amgen's Commercialization, Global Medical, Business Development, and Compliance functions and will be located at its corporate campus in Thousand Oaks, California .
The Director will report to the Vice President of Research & Development Informatics and be part of the RDI senior management team.. The Director will set the technical direction for client-funded projects and be responsible for the ongoing development and operations of systems, working closely with clients and leading a team of IT professionals.
The Research Informatics team leads the development, implementation and operation of technology strategies for the Research and Development functions at Amgen.
Key activities for the Director of Information Systems include:
Partner with the leadership teams in Commercialization, Global Medical, R&D Compliance, and Business Development to develop and implement effective strategies to maximize the effectiveness of these organizations
Direct the IS team in the delivery of IS services and solutions that support Amgen's Commercialization, Global Medical, Business Development, and R&D Compliance capabilities roadmap
In collaboration with business stakeholders of these functions, design, deliver and maintain multi-year portfolio capability and technology roadmaps. Effectively define, manage, deliver, and maintain a service-based portfolio in support of Commercialization, Global Medical, R&D Compliance, and Business Development
Establish or evolve services and platforms as appropriate to accelerate adoption and value realization of emerging technologies with business stakeholders and incorporate in the capability and technology roadmaps as applicable
Participate in the leadership of Research & Development Informatics (RDI) and in representing the RDI function in defining effective interaction with enterprise infrastructure and platform capabilities groups
Staff, develop, and mentor a high performance IS team and outsourced resources
Establish and maintain successful partnerships with internal IS service groups and strategic external services and development partners. Build and maintain external relationships with industry bodies, vendors, and technology analysts to learn, influence, and attract best talent
Travel: International and domestic travel of up to 15% might be essential
Doctorate degree and 4 years of Information Systems
Master's degree and 8 years of Information Systems
Bachelor's degree and 10 years of Information Systems
4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
12 years working experience, of which 8 years' experience has been in the life sciences industry, leading global teams, managing complex IT programs, and driving cross-functional large-scale technology introduction and innovation
Excellent executive-level influencing skills, with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with key business partners, IT leadership teams, and external service providers
Demonstrated ability for strategic IT planning and roadmap development
Proven track record of appropriate risk taking and an aptitude for introducing positive disruption in business processes, technologies, and delivery approaches
Experience managing in a highly regulated environment (pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, beverage, healthcare, or related industry). Knowledge of global computer system validation and regulatory requirements (e.g. 21 CFR Part 11)
Familiarity/experience preferred with the following technologies and solutions: SalesForce.com, Veeva CRM, Microsoft Dynamics, medical publications management systems, customer service operations and call center technology, data analytics, reporting and presentation tools, and multi-modal information/data dissemination and presentation (e.g. web, mobile etc.)
Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate across a matrix organization
Strong organizational, planning and financial management skills
Working knowledge of LEAN/AGILE software development methodologies
