Amgen Health Economics Manager - US Value-Based Partnerships in Thousand Oaks, California
In the context of the rapidly evolving healthcare environment with extreme focus on the cost and affordability of innovative new specialty medicines, Amgen is committed to developing a new capability to develop and execute global strategies to establish and sustain value-based partnerships with healthcare payers, governments and delivery systems. This includes the establishment of a new global value-based partnership hub that will explore and execute new and innovative mechanisms of patient access that create win-win-win situations for patients, payers and Amgen, while improving access to key stakeholders and their support of policies that shape the external environment.
This Manager role will report to the Global Health Economics (GHE) US Value-Based Partnerships (VBP) Director and Lead.
Assisting the GHE VBP Lead with providing strategic GHE input in building Amgen's new Global Value-Based Partnerships capability
Working seamlessly with VBP hub cross-functional team and key stakeholders across the organization at the product level
Helping provide oversight for all Value-Based Partnerships projects across GHE
Working collaboratively across select Therapeutic Area & Corporate level Partnerships, in coordination with GHE VBP Lead
Providing strategic and research insights to help with the design, scientific governance approval, execution and publication of Health Economic Research components
Providing GHE Product Leads both regionally and globally with project resourcing help on an as needed basis; helping to determine where such help is needed
Developing strategies and work plans in conjunction with GHE Product Leads and GHE VBP Lead in executing high priority product level partnership projects
Analyzing and assessing suitability for execution through partnerships of GHE product level research projects
Analyzing, assessing and identifying health care stakeholders appropriate for a given partnership project with required capabilities to ensure project success
Assisting in the tracking of value-based partnership studies from conception to publication or other dissemination internally or externally
Designing GHE-related aspects of observational research protocols; providing insights to increase the quality partnership projects not being conducted as formal research studies
Supporting GHE Lead and Global Partnerships Hub Partnership lead(s) in partnership ideation and partner segmentation, and business case development
Working with Global Value-Based Partnerships Manager(s) to execute contracted partnerships
Assisting with ensuring clear and consistent communication between the Global Partnership Hub and the GHE leadership team, GHE Value-Based Partnerships Team and GHE product leads
Assisting with end-to-end negotiation and execution of TA or Corporate-Level partnerships
Providing critical input to Hub Data analyst on partnership Business Case Development, Valuation, and Prioritization
Keeping aware of legal and compliance guardrails
Preparing VBP publications for dissemination collaboratively with external organizations
following Amgen publication-related standard operating procedures
Doctorate Degree or currently enrolled in PhD program and must complete all requirements necessary to obtain PhD prior to employment start date
Master's Degree and 3 years of health economics and outcomes research experience
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of health economics and outcomes research experience
Masters or PhD in Health Economics, Outcomes Research, Health Services Research, Pharmacy Administration or related discipline, or PharmD with a post-doctoral fellowship in one of these areas
Experience in value-based partnership contracting
Experience in global outcomes research including dossier submissions for reimbursement.
Experience in PRO/HRQOL research including questionnaire design, evaluation, and/or analysis.
Experience developing pharmacoeconomic models.
Experience working with consumers of outcomes information
Knowledge of epidemiology, economics, psychometrics and medical writing
Ability to align internal and external stakeholders around future value-based partnership initiatives
Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects with direct commercial or research implications
Strong interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, active listening, self-awareness and relationship management skills
Partnership, contracting, and/or valuation modeling experience
Understanding or familiarity with the Value & Access organization, and how it interfaces with other parts of the business
Experience working with or for external payers and providers
Solid understanding of US health care system and key stakeholders
Awareness and ability to navigate and conform to Commercialization and Corporate Governance processes
Strong publication record demonstrating ability to bring stakeholders together to accomplish mutually benefit endeavors focused on increasing health care system value
