Amgen Finance Mgr in Thousand Oaks, California

Amgen is searching for a Finance Manager who will play a key role in financial support of the Global Commercial Operations (GCO) organization. The manager will report to the Executive Director of Finance in charge of the Global GCO Finance consolidation group and will be based at the corporate campus in Thousand Oaks, CA.

The Finance Manager will be part of the GCO Finance team and help support financial consolidation of worldwide GCO operating expenses.

Key activities for the Finance Manager include:

Leading the worldwide consolidation of GCO operating expenses during financial planning processes such as annual budget, quarterly forecasts and the long range plan

Supporting the quarter end close processes, variance identification and distilling up results explanations to Corporate Finance and Accounting to inform for external reporting

Preparing various management reports on financial performance and be able to explain / communicate key variance drivers and insights

Provide key financial support and analysis on an ad-hoc basis to help drive and improve business performance as needed. This includes providing financial support and tracking / reporting of progress versus financial and operational milestone targets of key productivity initiatives

Preparing 'executive-friendly' financial analysis materials for senior company leadership

Partnering with other members of Finance and Accounting within and outside of Thousand Oaks, CA on consolidation of GCO activities (forecasts, actual results, etc.) as well as coordinating other ad-hoc projects

Key point of contact representing GCO Finance and GCO on cross functional initiatives

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of Finance experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Finance experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Finance experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

CPA (Certified Public Accountant)

4+ years of corporate level experience

Pharmaceutical/Biotech experience

Relevant functional financial planning experience in other operational area

Knowledge of key finance systems (such as SAP, MS Office, TM1/COGNOS planning and BI applications) and strong proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint

Detail oriented; strong business analytical skills

Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills

Strong interpersonal skills; ability to influence personnel across functions and levels

Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations and team environment

Able to take the initiative and work under a minimum of direction
