Amgen Associate IS Business Systems Analyst in Thousand Oaks, California

Amgen is seeking an Associate IS Business Systems Analyst at its corporate campus in Thousand Oaks, CA to join the Research Informatics team to support translational science clients. The Business Systems Analyst will interact with clients, collaborate with peer groups across different organizations and functions to gather business requirements, participate in software design or vendor selection, develop/implement, and support scientific applications. The Business Systems Analyst will provide domain and technology support for the business area, including eliciting and documenting business requirements, developing and reviewing design specifications, test planning and execution, and executing change management processes.

The Research Informatics team supports Discovery Research and Translational Research organizations globally with innovative IS solutions to accelerate and grow Amgen's pipeline of biopharmaceuticals. Key responsibilities for the Business Systems Analyst include:

Helps define and execute a streamlined service that allows more time to be spent on new capabilities, while ensuring the current capabilities are stable and efficient

Vendor evaluation, solution feasibility analysis

Understands preclinical, clinical, and genomic data for data preprocessing and predictive modeling

Basic system admin tasks for Windows, Linux, and applications

Author test cases, installation procedures, and execute software installation and testing

Supports clients on scientific applications and systems

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

OR

Associate's degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 6 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to perform detail-oriented work

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate proactively with others

Attention to detail and experimental/troubleshooting aptitude

Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment. Self-starter with hands-on attitude.

Possess technical skills and fluency with Oracle and PL/SQL fundamentals. Demonstrated proficiency in writing SQL queries for data extracts, to diagnose data related application errors, and to support data analysis and reconciliations

Hands on experience with web frontend and cloud computing
