Amgen Specialist Information Systems Administrator - Windows in Tampa, Florida
Amgen is seeking a Specialist Information Systems (IS) Administrator - Windows to join the Infrastructure Operations team and will have the primary responsibility for all activities related to Windows administration in a 24x7 regulated environment at a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Level. The IS Admin will introduce Windows server and related technologies into the Amgen environment and will perform advanced monitoring, administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Microsoft technologies, including: Windows Server Operating Systems, IIS, Active Directory, Group Policies, and Microsoft Clustering.
The Specialist IS - Windows Administrator will report to the Senior Manager Information Systems based at Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. The Infrastructure Operations team is the global enterprise administration group that manages physical and virtual hosting including private and public cloud hosting options, operating systems, databases, middleware, storage, and backup. The primary Windows platform supported by this group is Windows 2012 R2 with a smaller footprint of previous Windows server operating systems, as well as current Microsoft server versions.
Key Activities for the Specialist IS Administrator include:
Supports the Service Owner, full time employees, and managed service provider in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of the technology service
Ensures service is aligned with the key principles of service ownership which includes: meeting the needs of the business, cost effectiveness, scalability, compliance, reliability and resilience
Review and approve server design decisions to ensure that application hosting solutions exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, reliability upon deployment
Design and implement enterprise Windows server solutions that meet business requirements and are in line with defined strategies and compliance requirements, and are fiscally sound
Provide oversight for Information Technology (IT) projects to validate alignment with our strategic goals and technical standards while contributing to the development of the architecture roadmap for Windows server platforms
Lead projects from a technical aspect and provide guidance and direction to less experienced technical staff and Managed Service Providers including installations and upgrades of Operating System, backup and recovery strategies, and high availability configurations
Establish and implement a patching schedule for the operating systems and firmware while monitoring security bulletins to obtain information of potential threats. Then analyze and lead necessary security patch implementations to ensure ongoing system security
Design, document, and execute disaster recovery activities and associated tests
With accountability for all audit and security compliance issues (Amgen & government regulations) related to Windows server platforms: investigate and resolve technical issues and assist/lead Root Cause Analysis reviews
Master's degree and 3 years of Information Systems and Windows server administration experience
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Information Systems and Windows server administration experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems and Windows server administration experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems and Windows server administration experience
Industry Certifications and experience with Windows server administration
In-depth knowledge and experience in installing, configuring, and administering:Microsoft Core Infrastructure technologies: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies
Microsoft Server Operating System technologies: Windows Server 2012 R2 and 2016
SCCM and Windows patch management experience, including demonstrated knowledge in the management and application of updates to server operating systems and applications
Previous experience mentoring and managing junior Windows Administrators and various toolsets for Operating System Administration, Performance, Reporting and monitoring needs
Scripting and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) experience and managing regulated systems in the Pharma sector
