Amgen Specialist Information System Programmer Analyst - Information Discovery and Search in Tampa, Florida
Amgen is seeking a Specialist Information System (IS) Programmer Analyst to join Amgen's Analytics and Knowledge Management (AKM) team and will be responsible for implementing search solutions in support of Amgen's search strategy.
The Specialist IS Programmer Analyst will report to the Sr Manager Information Systems based at Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. AKM services include Advanced Analytics and Data Integration, Big Data technology services, Information Discovery and Search, Information Architecture, Knowledge Management (KM) and Regulated Content Management. This role will be part of the Information Discovery and Search team.
Key Activities for the Specialist IS Prog Analyst include:
Define Search architecture and technical road maps that align with the Search strategy
Design, develop, and maintain crawlers and document processing/enrichment pipelines that create search indexes using data from structured and unstructured data sources
Continually improve/enhance search quality (relevance)
Lead the technical design, development, testing, implementation, and support of key projects implementing Search technologies
Research and evaluate technical solutions including various open source and proprietary search platforms, NoSQL databases, graph databases, and web based search user interface tools
Advice and support project teams (project managers, architects, business analysts, and developers) on tools, technology, and methodology related to the design and development of search-based solutions
Prepare and maintain communication materials like roadmaps, position papers, presentations, demos, playbooks and socialize the materials with our business clients and partner IS services
Maintain knowledge of market trends and developments in search and related emerging technologies to provide recommendations and deliver best practice solutions
Collaborate with business partners and business analysts to translate business requirements into technical requirements and manage relationships with internal business partners, service partners, and vendors
Assist with estimating level of effort and hours required for each phase of a project
Ensure projects and deliverables are completed on time and within budget and deliver results in an environment consisting of diverse global and matrixed partners; including non-dedicated resources
Provide Run/DevOps support for search platforms and applications
Assume service ownership responsibilities for search platforms. Manage the Run/DevOps service providers. Accountable for platform/services availability. Work with service providers on root cause analysis and resolution of any outages and incidents. Accountable for Run/KTLO metrics
Travel: International and Domestic travel up to 10% may be essential
Master's degree and 3 years of Information Systems experience
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Information Systems experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience
3+ years of experience working on search platforms and web-application development
Experience with Solr/Lucene or Elasticsearch. Experience designing and developing large-scale Search Engine components. Solr Integration with web based front ends
Java/JEE Development experience and Java Certifications
Experience with Morphlines
Experience with NoSQL databases (Hbase/MongoDB/Neo4j)
Experience with GitHub, CVS, SVN (source code control systems)
Experience with Hadoop and Map Reduce concepts
Working knowledge of Relational Databases
Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps
Ability to work in a startup-like environment with little supervision
Ability to work in either a pure development role, or helping architect and design a solution, or act as a lead managing a development team
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Strong analytical skills for effective problem solving
