Amgen Senior Manager Information Systems (IS) - Advanced Analytics and Business Intelligence in Tampa, Florida

Amgen is searching for a Senior Manager Information Systems (IS) - Advanced Analytics and Business Intelligence who will work on our Analytics and Knowledge Management (AKM) team. The Senior Manager will report to the Director of Data and Analytics and will work out of Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. The Senior Manager IS - Advanced Analytics and Business Intelligence is a key leadership role within Amgen's AKM team. This Senior Manager will manage and lead a team of technologists to provide global support for the full range of Analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) services and solutions. The Incumbent will also provide a complete 'cradle to grave' service from solution delivery to steady state support of platform and applications in analytics and BI domain. Primary responsibilities include managing a team that will evaluate and introduce new technologies in the Analytics and BI space and deliver solutions to the business to achieve real business value through improved analytics and provide operational oversight for the platforms and applications. The Incumbent is also responsible for the capabilities and technology multi-year roadmaps.

AKM services include Advanced Analytics and Data Integration, Big Data technology services, Information Discovery and Search, Information Architecture, Knowledge Management (KM) and Regulated Content Management.

Key Activities for the Senior Manager include:

Works with AKM Delivery Leads and Functional IS / Business to assess evolving business needs

Responsible for a portfolio of project delivery to deliver business value through analytics solution delivery and for operational oversight of the portfolio of platforms and application supported by run management vendors

Manages the Run and DevOps team in a managed service environment for operations as well as implementation of approved platform related projects and identifies opportunities for innovation and new technology introduction

Lowers the barriers for adoption of new technologies and leads the Decision Sciences efforts across Amgen, which includes managing the Data Scientists community of interest and building the practice

Works directly with architects, IS partners, and subject matter experts across multiple disciplines to establish standards and patterns for Analytics and BI

Manages the execution of a varied portfolio of IS projects with appropriate portfolio planning, resource management and risk management, leveraging agile approaches for flexible and nimble execution

Defines multi-year technology roadmaps and partner with stakeholders to define upgrade schedule, platform improvements and ultimately platform retirement as appropriate

Manages the evolution of the enterprise Analytics and BI reference architecture and investigates industry developments and technology trends and provide insight into their relevance to the business

Maintains capabilities roadmap and resource plan on an ongoing basis in order to keep internal service offerings current, competitive and robust

Delivers IS service for Advanced Analytics and BI in alignment with business and IS strategy and is responsible for the negotiation and tracking of relevant contractual commitments

Effectively leverages external resources and outsourcing strategies to scale up IS resource model and monitors vendor contract compliance on an ongoing basis

20% domestic travel can be expected

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Master's degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

AND

2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of healthcare industry experience focused on analytics, business intelligence, reporting or data management

Able to successfully develop, launch, and manage product offerings for Analytics and BI

Hands-on experience in architecting analytics and BI solutions using at-least three of the following technologies - Spotfire, Tableau, IBM Cognos, SAP Business Objects, Teradata, Informatica, SAS, MicroStrategy, Denodo

Experience managing the end-to-end delivery of complex search projects

Knowledge of predictive modeling and machine learning

Ability to effectively present information for all levels, and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.

Penchant to learn about new technology innovation and creativity in applying to business problems
