Amgen Senior Associate Network Engineer in Tampa, Florida
Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate Network Engineer to be part of a dynamic team of architects and engineers working to build the future of the Amgen Network. Working closely with our Managed Service Provider (MSP), the Senior Associate Network Engineer will provide support to the Amgen network including: firewalls, load balancers, and some remote access solutions.
The Senior Associate Engineer will report to the Senior Manager Information Systems based at our Capability Center in Tampa, FL. Our new Tampa Capability Center provides essential services that enable us to better pursue the mission to serve patients. This state-of-the-art center serves as a base for finance, information systems, and human resources professionals to make a meaningful impact at one of the world's leading biotechnology companies.
The Network Operations team works within Global Business Service Infrastructure Services organization that manages physical and virtual hosting including private and public cloud hosting options, operating systems, databases, middleware, storage, and backup.
Key Activities for the Senior Associate Network Engineer include working with the Global Network team and Subject Matter Experts to provide:
Overall integration of the enterprise firewall infrastructure including: planning, design, installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of the corporate internal, external and Business to Business firewalls
Overall integration of the enterprise Load Balancer infrastructure including: planning, design, installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of the corporate internal, external Local Traffic Management and Global Traffic Management
Overall integration of the enterprise Web Proxies including: planning, design, installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of the corporate Proxies
Monitor and respond to complex hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software testing tools and techniques, Collaborate with Solution Architects to develop operational documentation, process guidelines, and best practices for Internal Amgen Network teams and our MSP
Study vendor products to determine those which best meet company needs while working with network equipment vendors, telecom carriers, network monitoring equipment/software vendors
Recommend technology solutions based on vendor capabilities and product/service offerings to ensure the network is operational, reliable, secure, and cost effective
Provide an interface with vendor support service groups or provides internal analysis and support to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded network performance
Provide overall network supportThe Senior Associate will have some travel, both domestic and international, that is expected to be less than 10%.
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of designing, managing, or supporting enterprise data networks
Associate's degree and 6 years of designing, managing, or supporting enterprise data networks
High school diploma/GED and 8 years of designing, managing, or supporting enterprise data networks
Pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience
Certifications from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, F5 or ForcePoint
Experience supporting multi-homed internet environment, and a large global network backbone
Expertise with the following technologies: CISCO Router and Switches, Cisco ASA Firewall, IPSEC VPN, F5 GTM and LTM, and Web proxies (ForcePoint)
