Amgen Principal Information Systems Architect - Messaging Service Owner in Tampa, Florida
Amgen is seeking a Principal Information Systems (IS) Architect - Messaging Service Owner to join Global Business Services (GBS), Communications, Collaboration, and Compute (CCC) team and will deliver both technical leadership in messaging and drive a cross-functional team consisting of internal, external, and vendor provided services. The IS Architect will deliver timely designs and implementations from the existing technology portfolio, create new services by securely incorporating internal and external services, create and drive product and feature road-maps, balance competing requests for resources, and clearly articulate the business value of messaging team initiatives.
The Principal IS Architect will report to the Senior Manager IS based out of Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. This state-of-the-art center serves as a base for finance, information systems, and human resources professionals to make a meaningful impact at one of the world's leading biotechnology companies.
Global Business Services (GBS), Communications, Collaboration, and Compute (CCC) team that is responsible for the design, development, delivery, and life cycle of Amgen's messaging and collaboration technologies. The team consists of cross-disciplinary IS professionals who understand how to deliver services that span both infrastructure and applications.
Key Activities for the Principal IS Architect - Messaging Service Owner include:
Service Lead Role
Define a service strategy, road-map, and execution plan to deliver high impact business value with a focus on user-experience
Enhances information competence at Amgen by answering technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teaching improved processes; mentoring team members
Define and conduct escalations and task assignments and maintain a strategic relationship with 3rd party vendors (Microsoft, Proofpoint, Rightfax, etc...)
Interact with Service Manager to review, define, and set goals that align organizational expectations with service delivery capabilities
Create and execute daily, weekly, monthly reports to trend service related issues and conduct systemic analysis of root causes.
Provide ISM management which includes change control review and approval, root cause analysis reviews and submissions, configuration library management, service metric evaluation and analysis, and report generation
Work as an intermediary between the business and the technical staff to provide a translation of business requirements/issues to technical requirements/issues and vice-a-versa
Conduct weekly service review meetings with MSP including outstanding issues and disseminate information that may materially affect service such as outages and planned maintenance and conduct service reviews to baseline and set service improvement goals and initiatives
Be accountable and responsible for executing and following through with system owner assigned tasks and compliance related requests
Principal Architect Role
Be accountable for developing, delivering and maintaining an integrated set of designs, detailed specifications, roadmaps, and strategies and service delivery for solutions for infrastructure and integrated services.
Ensure the relevance and completeness of designs, integrated testing, operational readiness and maintainability of infrastructure services delivered to GBS and client service owners.
Help drive technology and service change and increase quality through keeping current with market trends and incorporating best practices into the environment.
Provide expert level troubleshooting for issues that bridge subject areas and technologies beyond team capabilities Comfortable scripting and debugging in both Windows and Linux environments using Powershell, Bash, & Perl.
Provide technical leadership and collaborative expertise to drive POC and/or service enhancements among multiple cross-functional integration points, including co-development of project plans.
Be a key design lead for integrating infrastructure services of internal users and external business partners to easily and securely access and use internal and external compute services.
Be a lead contributor in defining, designing, and implementing reference architectures and driving to implement a meaningful and practical self-service catalog.
Work with IS and business clients to establish a vision and a target state enterprise information architecture to address information needs
Matures enterprise information governance frameworks and actively participates in project-level governance overseeing alignment to information capability roadmaps, data reuse, quality, security, and adherence to Amgen's standards and practices.
Travel: Domestic and International travel up to 10% may be essential
Doctorate degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience
Master's degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience
Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience
Master's degree OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Information Systems
Expert level at the following technologies: O365 exchange, on-premise hybrid exchange, Rightfax, eFax, Cayosoft, O365 platform services, and Proofpoint e-mail protection services
10+ years' experience designing and delivering messaging and infrastructure services including scalability, fault tolerance and high-performance solutions, ideally for health care and/or pharmaceutical companies, banking and finance, or other highly regulated industry
Expert level technical leadership including troubleshooting and triage skills
Proven ability to work with technologies such as Azure, Oracle PL/SQL, MSSQL, Active Directory, DNS, F5 GTM/LTM, Express Route, San Certificates, MS MIM, & Orchestrator
5+ years' experience in architecture and software implementation in one or more of the following Cloud application areas: PaaS, IaaS, or SaaS
Experience working in on-premise, private cloud infrastructures integrated securely into public cloud infrastructures creating a useable and effective hybrid-cloud enterprise environment
Strong leadership and communication skills to convince all stakeholders on programs and portfolio investments.
Strategic delivery experience and ability to facilitate alignment and investment across multiple geographies, functions, and disciplines.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and experience working with ServiceNow and ITIL v3 Framework
