Amgen Instructional Design Manager - HR, IS, & Compliance in Tampa, Florida

The Corporate Functions Instructional Design Manager, Global Learning Solutions (GLS) reports to the Senior Manager, GLS at Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, Florida, with responsibilities to support Global Learning & Performance (GL&P) Learning Professionals in all Corporate functions across all regions and sites in US, Europe, Intercontinental, and JAPAC.

This position is responsible for ensuring content and learning solutions are aligned with the organization's objectives and strategies and align with business needs. The ID Lead researches and models best practices in Instructional Design in order to deliver best-in-class performance support, training, and communications solutions for clients. The ID Lead applies and champions creative design standards to ensure all assigned deliverables are met.

The ID Lead owns end-to-end instructional design responsibilities for major training projects (e.g., Training needs analysis, design documentation, writing and editing of creative deliverables, development of new tools and templates, and quality control of final deliverables). The ID Lead oversees a team of full-time and contingent IDs who produce deliverables such as content outlines, design documents, style guides/templates, storyboards, infographics, workshop materials, performance support tools, and eLearning modules. In addition to managing the ID team, the ID Lead will own and complete instructional design projects in support of the GL&P organization and produce training deliverables as described above.

This position works collaboratively across the GL&P community, HR, and the Capability Center to ensure that GLS is adding value and meeting key business needs. The Corporate ID Lead partners with GL&P leaders from all Corporate functions to help identify and resource the right quantity and quality of instructional designers to execute the business plans. This includes ensuring learning content is produced effectively, efficiently, and in line with the priorities identified by functional governance.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 3 years of Learning & Performance experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Learning & Performance experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Learning & Performance experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Learning & Performance experience

AND

Previous managerial experience directly managing people and/or experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

Comprehensive knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.

5 or more years of experience in Learning.

3 or more years of experience in the pharma or biopharma industry.

2 or more years of experience in training or instructional design within the pharmaceutical industry.

5 or more years of experience developing or overseeing the development of eLearning, ILT, OJT, performance support, and other learning solutions.

Strong consulting skills.

Prior experience conducting training needs analysis in order to identify appropriate learning solutions.

Prior experience managing and/or overseeing training projects from beginning to end.

Prior experience creating deliverables for HR, IS, and Compliance clients.

Prior experience with learning technology solutions and eLearning design software.

Provides thought leadership on new and innovative approaches to Instructional Design.

Executes on the annual goals of the group and the department.

Promotes utilization of Global Learning Solutions team through marketing and outreach to GL&P staff and leadership.

Collaborates cross functionally to understand business drivers and identify resources required to develop learning content.

Partners with other GL&P leaders to identify opportunities for collaboration, process improvement, and resource sharing.

Some travel - approximately 10%.
