Amgen HR Manager - Benefits Operations in Tampa, Florida
Amgen is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Manager - Benefits Operations who will be responsible for managing benefits operations within the United States interfacing with team members, benefit consultants, administrators, and vendors regarding the development, renewal, plan design, and administration of Amgen's benefit programs. The incumbent will be leading our benefit enrollment processes, acting as a liaison between internal partners and managing relationships with outside vendors/outsourced administrators, including monitoring ongoing plan operation, funding, vesting, compliance and communication with participants. As a member of the Compensation and Benefits organization within the Employee Services group, the HR Manager participates in the implementation and set up of benefits plans, including creation and distribution of benefits information (i.e. SPD's, SAR's)
The HR Manager - Benefits Operations will report to the Executive Director of Benefits, at Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. Employee Services group is a newly formed organization intended to provide a more cohesive employee services delivery model. Our service scope includes a wide array of employee touching corporate services ranging from; Staffing Operations, Benefits Administration, Payroll, HR Technology, Learning Operations, Mobility, Travel, Expense and Meetings Management among several others. By bringing these services and activities together under one organization, the Employee Services team aims to improve collaboration, share best practices, innovate and streamline processes in these areas for the entire enterprise.
Key Activities for the HR Manager - Benefits Operations include:
Update and maintain health and welfare benefits data, review for accuracy, and run reports using HRIS system and vendor databases
Analyze benefits data for accuracy and making recommendations for improvements
Train HR call-center staff on benefit processes
Ensure that vendor processes are in place and work properly, including payments, reconciliation, and compliance
Assist in the development and updating of benefits interfaces
Monitor, test, and troubleshoot benefit
Interface transmissions between internal systems and vendor systems
Work with other benefits staff to plan and coordinate enrollment activities for health and welfare plans including coordination of system updates with vendor
Assist in integration, merger and termination of benefit plans with divested or newly acquired companies
Master's degree and 2 years of Benefits experience
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Benefits experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of Benefits experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Benefits experience
CEBS designation, and/or PHR/SPHR
Demonstrated knowledge of multi-state and federal benefit laws and regulations
Demonstrated leadership in the administration and compliance of health and welfare plans including: insured and self-insured programs, non-ERISA plans such as short term disability and life insurance
Demonstrated leadership in the administration and compliance of qualified and non-qualified deferred compensation plans including: 401k plans, profit sharing plans, defined benefit plans, and ERISA Top-Hat Plans
Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, written, and presentation skills interacting with employees at all levels
Exceptional proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially in Excel
Hands-on, working knowledge of HR systems (SAP), payroll (ADP), and benefit enrollment systems
Demonstrated previous success during dynamic organizational change
Demonstrated ability comprehend, balance, and articulate tactical and strategic planning issues
Demonstrated experience managing priorities across multiple projects and diverse assignments simultaneously
