Amgen Associate Benefits - Health and Welfare Programs in Tampa, Florida

Amgen is seeking an Associate Benefits - Health and Welfare Programs administrator to join the Employee Services organization and will be responsible for interacting closely with colleagues in Human Resources and Finance providing quality services to staff internally while coordinating with external partners to assist in ensure compliant administration of Amgen's US health and welfare benefits. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the US annual enrollment process, including system set up organization activities with vendors.

The Associate Benefits administrator will report to the Executive Director Benefits Systems based at Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. This state-of-the-art center serves as a base for finance, information systems, and human resources professionals to make a meaningful impact at one of the world's leading biotechnology companies.

The Associate Benefits is part of Amgen's Employee Services organization responsible for delivering a number of key business enabling services for the enterprise. Those services include payroll management, benefits & stock administration, HR operations, mobility management, talent and learning operations, and HR technology among others. By bringing these services and activities together under one organization, the Employee Services team aims to create the opportunity to improve collaboration, share best practices, innovate and streamline processes for the entire enterprise in a more competitive way.

Key Activities for the Associate Benefits include:

Coordinates changes in benefit policy

Maintains US benefit documentation updating policy and programs supporting Center of Excellence teams

Maintains User Acceptance Testing with outsourced vendors

Coordinates compliance filings (5500s, etc.)

Supports associated audits (SOX etc.)

Maintains updates on desk procedures

Supports distribution of benefits communications

Supports implementation of new programs and administrative processes

Collaborates with external partners to ensure payments to employees while supporting compliant administration of benefits

May assist auditors, both internal and external

Responds to employees health benefits queries while providing excellent customer service to a diverse and demanding customer base

Basic Qualifications

Associate's degree and 4 years of Human Resources/Benefits experience


High school diploma / GED and 6 years of Human Resources/Benefits experience

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years demonstrated experience, competence, and accuracy in the administration of complex benefits programs

Demonstrated Workday experience

Demonstrated experience working with outsourced vendors

Demonstrated customer service orientation

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Exceptional numeric and spread sheet skills (Excel)

Exceptional acumen in data, analytics, detail, and accuracy

Exceptional process-orientation approach with strong collaborative skills
