Amgen Senior Associate - Discovery Attribute Sciences in South San Francisco, California

Amgen is seeking a talented and motivated research associate with experience in chemistry or biochemistry to join our research team.

Job duties include the implementation of analytical and biophysical techniques for the characterization of Amgen's discovery-stage therapeutic protein candidates.

The successful candidate will join the Discovery Attribute Sciences group at our South San Francisco campus. This group is tasked with developing and implementing proteomic and protein characterization techniques in support of Amgen's early discovery pipeline.

Responsibilities:

This role will enable Amgen's preclinical pipeline through delivery of innovative technologies and technical expertise. Responsibilities will include written reports on routine analysis of protein reagents and therapeutic candidates through the use of chromatographic, mass spectrometric and allied methods. The role involves the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment including high performance liquid chromatography, mass spectrometers, robotic liquid handlers and other related instrumentation under minimal supervision to analyze protein reagents and discovery-state protein therapeutic candidates.

Basic Qualifications:

Masters degree

OR Bachelor's degree and 2 years Scientific expereince

Preferred Qualifications:

Some training in analytical protocols pertaining to sample preparation, protein chemistry, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry or other relevant chemical and/or biochemical methodologies is preferred.

A background in biology or chemistry with some laboratory experience in running established assays.

Strong verbal and written skills, and ability to work independently and effectively within timelines.
