Amgen Scientist - Clinical Biomarkers in South San Francisco, California

To underpin our commitment to serve patients, Amgen is developing our Translational Science focus with modern molecular and cellular science and pathology laboratories, designed to discover and develop valuable biomarkers in support of clinical programs.

Amgen R&D Medical Sciences/Translational Sciences is looking for a Scientist dedicated to Clinical biomarker development. The successful candidate is expected to work cross-functionally within Amgen and to interact closely with both the clinical and discovery research groups. The position will focus on assay development and qualification across multiple platforms. The role is responsible for designing experiments, drafting and implementing protocols, executing studies, organizing data, analyzing results, and drafting technical reports or tech transfer documents.

The candidate will interface with team members from both the biomarker group as well as preclinical research. The candidate will work in a highly matrixed environment and drive scientific and technical innovation collaboratively with other members of the group, as well as with Amgen research community. Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree


  • Master's degree & 4 years of scientific experience


  • Bachelor's degree & 6 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

PhD or Masters in pharmaceutical, chemical, or biological science

3 years' experience developing and running clinical-grade assays, preferably with experience with multiple assay formats

Strong laboratory experience in preclinical biomarker discovery/validation and/or implementing biomarker assays in a clinical trial setting

Experience implementing a broad array of platforms and technologies to support a research program; platform experience can include cell-based, protein, or nucleotide-based technologies

Experience in assay development and qualification and analysis of clinical samples

Outstanding communication skills including both oral and written presentation
