What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. The Post Doctoral Fellow at Amgen conducts research under the supervision of a mentor. They contribute to the design and execution of research projects, the analysis of data, and the preparation of scientific manuscripts.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of Amgen’s R&D Postdoc Program in Inflammation Discovery Research, located at a research site in South San Francisco, California. Postdocs will join a biology-centric lab to train under Dr. Zhifei Shao, Principal Scientist, and Dr. Menno Van Lookeren Campagne, VP of Inflammation Research, amongst other leading scientists in the field of immunology. In this vital role, you will perform independent research projects on the molecular and cellular mechanism of a key pathway regulating the homeostasis of the immune response as a part of a highly motivated group of immunologists and critical thinkers dedicated to pushing the boundaries of drug discovery.

The positions are for 2-4 years, depending on the time it takes to complete projects. Successful candidates will have access to Amgen’s cutting-edge technologies and innovation and be expected to make exciting scientific contributions to the field, present at scientific conferences, and publish their work. Postdocs will be a part of the broader R&D Postdoc Program that focuses on training the next generation of industry scientists. An overwhelming majority of our postdocs go on to advance their careers in industry at leading pharma and biotech companies, including many at Amgen.

We are looking for highly talented, self-motivated individuals passionate about science and making high-impact discoveries to work on immunology and inflammation research. A major focus will be on a key pathway regulating immune homeostasis in T cells and myeloid cells. New postdoctoral fellows will take a multi-disciplinary approach combining animal disease models, cell biology, chemical and molecular biology, and biochemistry to carry out these studies.
