Amgen Manager- Pathology Specialty Techniques - San Francisco in South San Francisco, California
Position to work as a translational pathology laboratory manager/pathology scientist for the anatomic pathology laboratory. Drive strategy to support development and execution of pathology projects that are geared to support specific portfolio related questions on tissue-based target expression. You will use your extensive repertoire of pathology expertise to manage, mentor, and troubleshoot the team effectively. Reporting directly to Director, Pathology, you will serve as the interface to internal and external partners and collaborators for the pathology laboratory.
Master's degree and 4 years of molecular biology, cellular biology or related scientific experience
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of molecular biology, cellular biology or related scientific experience
PhD in molecular biology, cellular biology or related scientific discipline with 2+ years of experience in managing staff in a molecular pathology laboratory
Significant hands-on experience in a variety of pathology based methodologies including, but not limited to: IHC, multiplex IHC, in situ hybridization (ISH), laser capture microdissection (LCM), immunofluorescence imaging, confocal microscopy and other advanced microscopy, digital pathology/image analysis, stereology, specialized tissue sectioning and histology procedures
Expertise in documentation, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data generated from tissue-based target expression experiments with a variety of statistical approaches
Recognized externally in areas of expertise and a strong publication track record in top tier journals
Comfortable in working in a highly interactive and vibrant environment designed to promote frequent interaction and brainstorming;
Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize resources according to changing business drivers and emerging scientific questions
Excellent leadership and communication skills and the ability to influence, inspire, and lead teams into new scientific areas
Excellent operation management skills including staff work scheduling, performance management, resource planning, and project outsourcing to Contract Research Organizations (CROs)
Experience fostering external and academic collaborations
