Amgen Associate Scientist - Inflammation Research in South San Francisco, California

We are seeking an Associate Scientist to join the Oncology/Inflammation Research Therapeutic Area at Amgen in South San Francisco to drive the discovery and validation of novel targets in Immuno-Oncology for the development of innovative medicines.

The candidate will be an integral member of the research team, collaborate with research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, and work closely with teams in other functional areas.

In this position, the individual is expected to make major scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals and milestones of the Oncology/Inflammation Research Therapeutic Area. Specific responsibilities include planning and performing laboratory experiments, analyzing data and communicating results.

Basic Qualifications

Master's degree & 2 years of scientific experience

OR

Bachelor's degree & 4 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in immunology, molecular or cell biology, or a closely-related life science discipline, with 5+ years of hands on experience using a variety of techniques, post-degree

Hands on experience in isolation and culture of primary immune cells, multi-color flow cytometry, immunological assays (proliferation, cytokine production), transduction and molecular engineering of primary T cells, PCR based techniques, and an ability to critically analyze and present results.

Expertise in biochemical and cell signaling assays, imaging techniques and working with biological samples

Knowledgeable, highly motivated, creative, and collaborative.

Success in this position calls for excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative research environment
